It is best to pick a room in your home where your kids can focus on their schoolwork while in there, and keep it separate from the other parts of the house. This helps their learning experience while being able to focus on the task at hand without distractions. Additionally, it also helps to "close the door" at the end of the day on school and continue on to other activities.
* Wired for Technology - In order to have your electronics at peak performance, the proper wiring must be in place first. Your space needs to be wired correctly to handle the load of multiple laptops, smartphones, doorbells, cameras, thermostats, appliances, gaming systems and more. Let us help in making sure your home will be able to
handle all the tasks it is being given.
* Wi-Fi - This seems obvious, but you need to make sure your Wi-Fi signal is strong enough to accommodate all of the electronics that are pulling from the same bandwidth. Depending on the location of your router to the room you are using for a classroom, you may need to invest in some WAP's (wireless access points) to ensure proper signal without dropping or buffering.
* Comfortable Seating - Select comfortable seating for proper posture since your children will spend several hours a day in this room.
* Desk - or table for their working space. It is important to have ample space to spread out as students will be teleconferencing, reading, writing and using their laptops in their workspace.
* Schedule - Many homes are juggling various kids in different schools, so scheduling is a must! A posted visual schedule will help keep daily and weekly tasks in check. An erasable whiteboard is a good investment for your work area since it can be updated weekly. Make sure your schedule includes a lunch break, snacks and recess times, so kids can look forward to "fun time" along with their homework deadlines.
* Personalize it - Let your kids help personalize their own classroom space with artwork, their favorite colored pencils, and other items that will help them feel more comfortable in their new schooling area.
