MAB Funding Shaken

We, as all of you, have suffered the loss of revenue. We have lost several NCSA Partners this spring as well. It has put a significant strain on our budget. Others just postponed their messages until Fall. We have a few new NCSA Partners as a result of, but not directly related to, the virus. A number of these partner messages are very time sensitive and need to air in May and June. Read More

Both Senate, House Considering Expansion of PPP Lifelines to Include Local Media 
Broadcasters may soon be able to take advantage of the Paycheck Protection Program after a bipartisan-backed bill was introduced in the Senate on Wednesday (5/13) that would allow local radio and television stations and newspapers to tap into the federal government's small business loan forgiveness program, according to a report in InsideRadio . Comments Due June 12 on Proposal to Expand the Use of Distributed Transmission Systems by TV Stations Operating with ATSC 3.0 Transmission Systems - What is Being Asked?

The FCC's proposal to expand the use of Distributed Transmission Systems by television stations operating with the new ATSC 3.0 transmission system was published in the Federal Register May 13 (here). That publication announces that the comment deadlines on the FCC's DTS Notice of Proposed Rulemaking are due by Friday, June 12, 2020, and reply comments will be due by Monday, July 13, 2020. FCC Chairman Ajit Pai told a virtual NAB Show Express audience on Wednesday (5/13) that legacy public service commitment of the nation's broadcasters is "showing up in spades" during the pandemic, according to a report in Broadcasting+Cable . Read More

Incumbent Sen. Gary Peters Begins Airing 2 New Ads
Sen. Gary Peters' campaign began airing two new advertisements in markets across the Michigan on Wednesday (5/13), touting efforts to protect the state's businesses during the new coronavirus pandemic and bringing manufacturing back from China, according to a report in Gongwer.  The Bloomfield Township Democrat won his seat as Michigan's junior Senator in 2014 and faces re-election at the end of his first term in November's General Election.
