Reflection from your Co-Pastors - September 30, 2021
Yesterday was the Feast of Sts. Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael, Archangels. They are included in Litany of the Saints in all of our Ordinations: Deacon, Priest, and Bishop. To honor these great Helpers here are the three progressive readings of the day. The first may sound harsh but as you pray into the second and third, your heart will lighten and peace will enter.
Let us praise God along with all the angels.
Revelations 12:7-12A
“Then war broke out in heaven. Michael and all the angels fought against the dragon. The dragon and its angels fought back but they were defeated and driven out of heaven. The great dragon, the primeval serpent who is called the Devil or Satan, who had deceived the whole world, was hurled down to the earth and its angels were banished with it.
Then I heard a loud voice in
heaven shout:
Now have come salvation and power, and the kingdom of God, and all Authority for God’s Anointed.
For the accuser of our sisters and brothers, who accused them before God night and day, has been brought down.
They triumphed over the accuser by the Blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; their love of life did not dissuade them from death.
Let the heavens rejoice and all who dwell in them; but woe to you, earth and sea, for the Devil has come down to you filled with fury, for it knows that its days are numbered." (The Inclusive Bible)
Psalm 138:1-12 Of David
I praise You with all my heart, sing a hymn to You before the divine beings;
I bow toward Your holy temple and praise Your name for Your steadfast love and faithfulness,
Because You have exalted Your name, Your word above all.

When I called, You answered me, You inspired me with courage.
All the kings of the earth shall praise you, O Lord, for they would have heard the words You spoke.
They shall sing of the ways of the Lord, “Great is the majesty of the Lord!”
High though the Lord is, He sees the lowly; lofty, He perceives from afar.
Though I walk among enemies, You preserve me in the face of my foes; You extend Your hand; with Your right hand you deliver me.
The Lord will settle accounts for me.
O Lord, Your steadfast love is eternal; do not forsake the work of Your hands. (The Jewish Study Bible)
John 1.47-51
When Jesus saw Nathaniel coming toward him, he remarked, “This one is a real Israelite. There is no guile in him.
“How do you know me?” Nathaniel asked?
Jesus answered, “Before Philip even went to call you, while you were sitting under the fig tree, I saw you.”
“Rabbi,” said Nathaniel, “you’re God’s Own; you’re the ruler of Israel.”
Jesus said, “Do you believe just because I told you I saw you under the fig tree? You’ll see much greater things than that.”
Jesus went on to tell them, “The truth of the matter is, that you will see heaven opened, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Chosen One.” (The Inclusive Bible)
St. Michael, pray for us

Blessings to Our Wonderful Community Members,
You already may have heard that three cases of Covid were confirmed following Bishop Kae’s consecration; the person with symptoms tested negative. Although, the consecration gathering as cause of infection has not been confirmed, caution and concern remain. We know you will determine how you are best served on Sunday, October 3. Mass will be in sanctuary as well as zoom, as we have been doing.
Here is the letter from Fr. Michael that was distributed to those on the Eventbrite contact list. It advises us to observe the recommendations through October 2nd.
If you come to church, precautions remain the same: masks, six feet apart, hand sanitizer. Additional air filtration has been added down near the altar. The back of the church is already well ventilated.
Yours in Christ, Co-Pastors with Dr. David Cloyd
