COVID-19 Vaccination Sites Throughout the City
The Houston Health Department continues to provide $100 gift cards with first doses and $50 gift cards for second doses of the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine, administered at eligible Health Department fixed sites. Find a list of eligible sites here or click on the image to download the flyer.

Several pop-up sites across the city that change locations weekly, many with evening and weekend hours, are also accessible. Find a complete listing of pop-up sites here.
Houston Health Department Urges People To Get Flu Shot Now 
Flu outbreaks can occur as early as October and last as late as May. The health department began offering flu shots on Monday at its health centers to uninsured and underinsured people on a sliding scale, ranging from free to $15. Health center locations and hours of operation are available at www.houstonhealth.org or through the City of Houston’s 311 Help and Info line. Learn more here.
Hispanic Heritage Month Events
Join a creative community exploration of The House on Mango Street, by Mexican-American author Sandra Cisneros, through an interactive line-up of bilingual events, including Educa-CINE this Saturday in Second Ward at the Flores Neighborhood Library. Using The House on Mango Street, you will explore LatinX culture, traditions and issues, and ignite discussion around the importance of heritage.

FREE Tablets for Persons 50 and Over
Through a state funded program, persons 50 years of age and over can sign up for a FREE electronic tablet. Additionally, Crossroads Ministries in partnership with Houston Food Bank, will offer a two-month supply of non-perishable food items.

One tablet and one food supply per household. You must present your ID.

HISD Community Meetings
Community meetings continue for parents and members of the HISD community to talk with Superintendent Millard House II about the direction of the district. There is a meeting in District H at Booker T. Washington High School on October 6th.

Denver Harbor's Nieto Park Improvements Coming!
Houston Parks Board and Houston Parks & Recreation Department have exciting news to share about improvements at Nieto Park.

Based on the input received and available funding, improvements will include improving the water sprayground surface, replacing the playground equipment and fall surface, replacing benches and picnic tables, adding a new exercise station and replacing the damaged concrete sections around the basketball court. Construction is expected to begin in late 2022.

In celebration of the City of Houston’s 185th birthday, citizens are encouraged to pick up 185 pieces of trash. People who make the effort to pick up trash in their community often find they will inspire others to do the same.

It is also important to hold business owners accountable for the maintenance of and around their properties. Let’s say something when we are frequenting businesses in our community and their property needs attention.

49th Annual Buffalo Bayou Partnership Regatta
