Laying the foundation for the Sosa Family's home and future
The concrete was poured for the foundation of our 105th home on Tuesday, September 28. Thanks to our Construction Manager and incredible team of Build Committee volunteers and community partners for their hard work on the preliminary phases of this home. "Walls Up" has been rescheduled to Saturday, October 9 due to thunderstorms predicted this weekend.

This physical laying of the foundation for the Sosa Family's house helps us look forward to how owning this future home will build the foundation for a better life for Dina and her two daughters. Thanks to all volunteers, sponsors, and partners for serving and contributing to this amazing family's story.
Service Spotlight: Donna McGraw, Build Committee Volunteer
Donna McGraw is the newest member of Habitat Denton's Build Committee, a group of skilled volunteers with a passion for helping our Partner Families build their homes on a regular basis. Ms. McGraw also helped fundraise for Habitat on North Texas Giving Day, raising almost $700 for the Habitat Village! Here is her Habitat testimony:

"I began working with Habitat for Humanity of Denton County earlier this year. I had been looking for a volunteer opportunity that made me feel as if I was making a difference, and this was it! It has been an honor to work alongside and get to know other volunteers, as well as the well-deserving recipient families, who work right along with us! I think my heart may have doubled in size because of it. The next build begins NOW, and I can't wait!"

Thank you, Donna, for jumping right in and joyfully serving with us alongside our Partner Families!
“We are grateful to Wells Fargo for supporting and joining us in our efforts to build these homes alongside hardworking families and experience their joy in discovering the possibility of homeownership.”

Thanks to Wells Fargo for including us as part of its nationwide initiative to help low-to-moderate income families construct and improve homes across the country.
Thank you for giving on North Texas Giving Day!
A huge THANK YOU to all who gave to Habitat for Humanity of Denton County on North Texas Giving Day! Thanks to your support, we exceeded our match and raised a total of $22,949 from over 100 donations!

All funds raised for NTX Giving Day go toward building the Habitat Village, an 8-acre affordable housing development that will allow 35 local families to become homeowners for the first time. We are so blessed to be turning this dream into a reality, thanks to all the support from our community.

Before the COVID-19 pandemic, 1 in 7 households—more than 17 million—were paying half or more of their incomes on a place to live. The pandemic has only deepened these challenges for many, and a record shortage of affordable homes is locking out first-time and lower-income homebuyers.

On Monday, September 27, Habitat for Humanity International CEO Jonathan Reckford hosted +You: In conversation with Housing and Urban Development Secretary Marcia Fudge. This discussion explored how the administration is prioritizing investments in home affordability and equity to address our country’s growing housing challenges. Take a listen!
