How Can Jewish Human Service Providers Help to Heal an Anguished Nation?

The past few weeks have been filled with intense and mixed emotions. While continuing to manage the impact of COVID-19, our country, and in fact, our world, has been overcome with the profound acceptance of its historic racism and its complete failure to achieve equity for all. The disparities are stark and exist in every aspect of society, from income to education, from healthcare to basic safety. The pain is real, and the trauma is lasting. As Jewish human service providers, the member agencies of NJHSA are humbled by the many roles they play in helping communities to thrive. Yet, the anguish and suffering that accompany historic racism present permanent roadblocks to those efforts.  Learn more and contribute here .
LGBTQ Awareness Month

Lesléa Newman is a prolific writer, poet, and human rights activist. She is the author of over 60 books and edited collections including the groundbreaking children’s book Heather Has Two Mommies, the first children’s book to portray lesbian families in a positive way, and the award-winning short story A Letter to Harvey Milk. Newman’s writing often explores lesbian identity, Jewish identity, and the intersection and collision between the two. #KeshetLGBTQPride2020 #LesléaNewman #LGBTQJewishHeroes

The Soaringwords SOARING into Strength Positive Health Toolkit will fortify your professional and administrative staff members and also allow your agencies’ clients to experience more emotional, mental and physical well being. Your staff will be able to share the latest empirically-valid Positive Health learnings and exercises with your clients by accessing the easy-to-use toolkit modules (virtual workshops, videos, and immersive workbooks).
