APRIL ZOOM GENERAL MEETING

Presentation will be via ZOOM

Wednesday
April 21, 2021
10:00am - 11:00am

Here's the Link to Join this ZOOM Meeting:

Guest Speaker: Emily Lindsey, PhD

Topic: "Climate Change and Extinction Events"

Dr. Emily Lindsey is Assistant Curator and Excavation Site Director at the La Brea Tar Pits and Museum, and Adjunct Faculty in the Institute of the Environment and Sustainability at UCLA.

Her research integrates information from past and modern ecosystems in order to understand how Ice Age animals and environments functioned, how climate conditions and human actions intersect to drive extinctions, and how to predict future ecological responses in the face of modern global change. No other paleontological site in the world has as great a potential to answer these questions as the La Brea Tar Pits.

Dr. Lindsey received a BS in Biology at Brown University, and her PhD from the University of California, Berkeley. She did postdoctoral research at UC Berkeley and the Museo Nacional de Historia Natural in Uruguay. She has conducted fieldwork in the United States, Antarctica, Chile, Guyana, and Ecuador, where her ongoing research program focuses on investigating the rich asphaltic fossil localities of the Santa Elena Peninsula and comparing them with tar pits here in California.
MARCH'S ZOOM GENERAL MEETING

Presentation was via ZOOM

 Wednesday
March 17, 2020

Guest Speaker: Lisa Napoli

Topic: "Up All Night - Ted Turner, CNN, and the Birth of 24 Hour News"

The Los Angeles Brandeis Men's Group (LABMG) was pleased and honored to have journalist and author Lisa Napoli give a most interesting presentation on Ted Turner and the origins of the Cable News Network (CNN).

This was another example of the excellent monthly speakers that the BMG continues to bring to our members via ZOOM.
BNC Los Angeles Men's Group Endowed Fellowship in Neuroscience.
2020 - 2021
Tyler Hill is the recipient of the 2020 - 2021 BNC LA Men's Group Endowed Fellowship in Neuroscience.

"I chose Brandeis Neuroscience because I knew that the program and department put out world-class research and train world-class scientists, but still maintain a small-school setting. The Brandeis neuroscience program is special because it has such a wide range of projects, from molecular to behavioral, and a very collaborative environment that allows students to interact with and explore many scientific avenues."

"Receiving fellowship support means the world to me. It means that there are people who believe in me and the research that I'm doing, and are willing to give their monetary support. I do not take that lightly, and it inspires me to work even harder to answer the questions that fascinate me. It also means that my lab has more money to spend on making our research run smoothly. I really appreciate the support that I have been given. It is a true honor."
