Hello, Crohn's and colitis community! We hope that you and your loved ones are all keeping healthy and safe. We have a lot of news for you this week. Read on for more information about what we’ve been up to since we last touched base.
Now's Your Chance to Double the Impact
We are delighted to announce that last week an anonymous donor came forward and is willing to match your gift today—up to a total of $200,000—to provide critical programs and support for our community during this great time of need. If you haven’t already and you are able to, please donate now to our newly created COVID-19 Emergency Support Fund. Your gift will go twice as far to keep critical patient programs and research initiatives active in helping the 270,000+ Canadians living with Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis.
Introducing...Our COVID-19 & IBD Information Centre!
What is the #1 spot for everything there is to know about COVID-19 as it relates to IBD? It’s our COVID-19 & IBD Information Centre of course! We’ve taken everything we’ve heard from our team of experts and have broken it down for you in easy, byte-sized pieces, with video content straight from our weekly COVID-19 & IBD webinars. Check it out, and bookmark the page as we continue to update it with the latest information as it becomes available.
Happy Campers Online
The health and safety of our community is everything to us, so we’ve made the decision to shift our 2020 in-person summer camps to a virtual Camp Got2Go! Although we can’t be together physically, our Camp Got2Go is an amazing opportunity for campers to make new friends who are also living with Crohn’s or colitis, as we combine our Alberta, Ontario, and Nova Scotia camps into our biggest camp yet! More details will be shared about CampGot2Go in the coming weeks in Talk About Guts, but if you have any questions in the meantime, please contact info@campgot2go.ca.
Walk Your Way, Virtually
Sometimes all you need to do is put one foot in front of the other. On our special 25th annual Gutsy Walk, join our community to celebrate the research milestones we’ve achieved together—and the innovations we will drive in the years to come. Get inspired to walk virtually with your fellow Canadians on Sunday, August 23 and register here if you haven’t!
Let's Give a Standing Ovation to Our Valued Volunteers
Happy National Volunteer Week! Did you know that Crohn’s and Colitis Canada has over 3,000 volunteers who support us in many different roles? While we can’t celebrate as we’d like to this year, we still want our volunteers to know how much we appreciate their efforts. The support of our amazing volunteers is needed now more than ever, and we are so grateful for your continued support! Thank you volunteers, you truly make a difference in everything we do.
 We Need Your Voice
Charities and nonprofits are vital parts of communities, and need emergency support to stay afloat. During these unprecedented times, we need to ensure the sector emerges strong from the COVID-19 crisis. Please join us and send a letter to your MP urging for the implementation of a Sector Resilience Grant Program.
That’s all for now. Remember, it’s almost the weekend, so make the most of it! Reach out to a friend you haven’t spoken to in a while, make the recipe you’ve had saved for weeks, or don’t leave bed for two days straight. Whatever you choose, we hope you have a great one!

Thanks, as always, for subscribing to the Talk About Guts e-newsletter. To those who celebrate, Happy Ramadan! We understand you might not be able to celebrate as you have in previous years, but we hope you can gather virtually with friends and family. Until next time!
