COLLEGE FAIR STARTS TODAY
We are excited to welcome our high school students and their parents/guardians to the start of our first annual comprehensive College Fair, beginning at 3:30 p.m. today, Friday, October 15! To participate in today’s virtual sessions, registered students and parents should return to the College Fair website and click on “Step 2 - Log In to Attend the College Fair Events Here.” Participants will then be taken to the platform for all virtual events and will log in with their username and password. Zoom links for the Virtual College & Career Night sessions will be made available on the platform 30 minutes prior to the start of each session.

In-person College Fair sessions (students only) will take place after school next Friday, October 22. Room locations will be posted around campus, and staff will be on-site to direct students.

If you experience technical issues with the College Fair website during the event, please email fairstopsupport@gotocollegefairs.com to receive immediate assistance. Please specify that you are a participant of the CSArts-SGV Virtual Booth Fair.

If you have questions or experience issues with any of the Virtual College & Career Night sessions, please email student.services@sgv.csarts.net.

Not yet registered? There’s still time! Please follow the steps described in this email communication to register for College Fair 2021.
FACULTY & STAFF COVID-19 VACCINATION/TESTING MANDATE
We would like to share that, as of today, Friday, October 15, CSArts-SGV has successfully collected COVID-19 vaccination records for all fully vaccinated faculty and staff in compliance with the statewide mandate. Any CSArts-SGV faculty and staff members who have not been completely vaccinated and provided documentation will be required to submit to weekly testing beginning on Monday, October 18.
HALLOWEEN IS COMING
On Friday, October 29, students are welcome to wear a Halloween costume to school. We would like to share the following do’s and don’ts, which can help as students plan their costumes:

Do:
  • Make sure your costume follows CSArts-SGV dress code and is school appropriate.
  • Make sure that you are identifiable to staff as a CSArts-SGV student. If your costume includes a headpiece or mask that obscures your face, you must remove it upon entry and exit from school and whenever asked by a staff member.

Don’t:
  • Bring toy guns or weapons to school. If your costume includes a replica or foam sword or staff, that is acceptable; however, please be aware that staff or administration may ask to see it and may stow it in their office if it is determined to be potentially dangerous.
  • Engage in cultural appropriation or wear a costume that makes fun of a specific religion, race, ethnicity, cultural group, or gender. True appreciation comes in the form of learning about other cultures, befriending different people, going to museums, researching, and listening to others’ stories. Dressing up for one day of the year is not an appropriate demonstration of appreciation. Please stick to make-believe costumes, such as superheroes, zombies, aliens, vampires, book characters, and all things imaginative or creative. If you would like to learn more about cultural appropriation, you can find a video resource from Teen Vogue here.

ADVANCED PLACEMENT (AP) EXAM PURCHASING
2022 AP exams are scheduled to be administered over two weeks in May: Monday, May 2 - Friday, May 6 and Monday, May 9 - Friday, May 13. You may find the full AP testing schedule here. All students currently enrolled in an AP class at CSArts-SGV are eligible to take the corresponding AP exam. Students are encouraged to register and pay only for exams they are committed to taking.

Purchasing an Exam
Students wishing to take one or more AP exams this year should pay for the exam(s) through the MySchoolBucks account that they set up during Online Registration. The exam fee established by College Board for each test is $96. If your family qualifies for the Free and Reduced Lunch Program (FRLP), the fee is $64 per test. When ordering exams, we highly encourage both student and parent to be present to ensure that the correct exams are ordered. Please print and save your emailed receipt of payment for your records, as students may need it for future reference or refunds.

The last day to purchase AP exams is next Friday, October 22 at 11:59 p.m.

FREE SAT/ACT PRACTICE EXAMS
Revolution Prep is offering CSArts-SGV students free online practice exams to help prepare for the SAT and ACT! There is still time to register for the free ACT practice exam on Saturday, October 30 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. To register, please click here. In addition, there are free self-proctored SAT and ACT practice exams available that students can download and take at their convenience.

At this time, the UC and CSU systems do not require college entrance exams; however, there are some private colleges and out-of-state colleges that still recommend submitting test scores for college admissions.
COVID-19 DASHBOARD & WEEKLY TESTING
All of CSArts-SGV’s most recent COVID-19 information, including policies, procedures, and important health and safety resources, can be found on our COVID-19 Dashboard. The COVID-19 Dashboard is updated regularly to help keep our community informed of positivity rates at our school. On this page, you can also access the COVID-19 Reporting Form in order to report a positive test, symptoms, or exposure.

Please remember that weekly COVID-19 testing will continue to be available to all faculty, staff, students, and families as an extra health and safety resource every Monday at 1:30 p.m. The drive-through clinic is located in the parking lot off Highland Avenue. Walk-ups are welcome. Please note that we have recently changed vendors for this service. As a result, all members of the CSArts-SGV community will need to re-register for testing if they have not done so already. Please visit our COVID-19 Dashboard for information on how to register with our new vendor.
