This "Sundae Sunday" at St. Columba's ... we return to our regular service schedule and celebrate the beginning of our new program year with an ice cream sundae bar in the Courtyard from 9:45-11 am and opportunities to check out what’s new in the coming year. We look forward to seeing you! ~ a message from Jennifer Turner
Worship with us this Sunday!
On Sun., Sept. 8, we return to our Regular Worship Schedule. In the Church Nave, services are at 8 am (spoken), 9 am (family-friendly service with children's choirs and an age-appropriate Gospel story for children 3-8), and 11:15 am (featuring adult choirs). The Great Hall features a service at 9:15 am designed for pre-school aged children and their families. On Mon., Sept. 9 , our parish office hours change to Monday-Thursday, 9 am-5 pm; Friday, 9 am-1 pm.

What better way to launch this new year to "Live God’s Love" than with ice cream! "Sundae Sunday" will also offer opportunities to meet D.C. Veale, our new director of youth ministry; say hello to Katie McGervey, interim director of children’s ministry; learn about the upcoming year in Sunday School; make sandwiches with Grate Patrol, a wonderful service actvity for families; update your listing for the NEW parish directory; and catch up with clergy, staff and friends, old and new! Click here for a rundown of all the activities!

Learning
LIVE GOD'S LOVE
Fall Formation: A Season for Learning
St. Columba's Fall Formation is rooted in the Way of Love practice, Learn. Based in Scripture, "when we open our minds and hearts to Scripture, we learn to see God’s story and God’s activity in everyday life."

The St. C's Formation team invites you to a wide range of learning experiences this fall. In addition to Wednesday Night at St. C's courses, you may join "Bible, Coffee and Conversations" on Sunday mornings at 10:15 am in Rm 238, and seniors are invited to our Wisdom Circle, meeting second Wednesday mornings. Read on for more info about our courses and choose the ones that speak to you!

Parenting Up and Down - A Support Group
The "Sandwich Experience" is not one we speak about a whole lot. Raising our children, no matter their stage and caring for our aging parents requires great care, patience, juggling, balance, attention and compassion for self. This is not an easy balance to achieve given work, stress and pace of our lives. Come listen and share stories about what comes up for us emotionally and spiritually as we parent up and down. We will offer resources and some tools for practice to help us find equilibrium while supporting each other along this journey. Join us Wednesdays, Oct. 2-Nov. 11, 7-8 pm in Rm 220. Questions? Contact: Passages@columba.org
Human Rights in the Christian Perspective
Join us Wednesdays this fall as we explore the development of international human rights from a variety of perspectives ranging from spiritual, historical to legal. Together we’ll ask how Christians in particular can bridge the worlds of biblical justice with modern human rights. Facilitator Allyson McKinney Timm is a theologically trained human rights attorney who served as the Lowenstein Fellow in International Human Rights Law at Yale Law School and was named one of the “ten faith leaders to watch” in 2018 by the Center for American Progress. Come Wednesday evenings, 7-8 pm in Rm 212.
