State of Arkansas
Arkansas continues to see the number of COVID-19 cases in the state grow. Since yesterday, the number of cases in the state has grown by 522, bringing the total to 16,083. Of that number, 5,063 are considered active with 106 in nursing homes, 642 in correctional facilities and 4,315 in the community.
Of the new cases, 85 were next door to Garland County in Hot Springs County. The majority of those cases were at a correctional facility.
Since yesterday, there have been two more deaths due to COVID-19 have been recorded. That brings the total number of deaths to 227 in the state. There are 237 people hospitalized in the state with 61 on ventilators.
Gov. Asa Hutchinson talked about the number of hospital beds available in the state. Of the total hospital bed capacity of 8,917 in the state, with 6,365 (71.4 percent) occupied. Of the 970 ICU beds, 748 (77.7 percent) are occupied. Of the states 894 ventilators, 311 (34.8 percent) are being used.
Arkansas also hit its goal as far as statewide testing for June over the last 24 hours. So far in June, 120,053 people have been tested. The positivity rate is 6.3 percent.
