Nicole Troupe teaches this three-session on-line foundation drawing class. Why is it important to understand the bone structure of the skull when drawing a portrait? The visible appearance of the human face depends upon the shape of the bones that push on the muscles and skin. Authentic Community Theatre presents One Night of Rent at The Maryland Theatre
Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at 7:00 pm
Back by Popular Demand, Authentic Community Theatre presents: RENT ONE NIGHT ONLY! Based loosely on Puccini's La Boheme, Jonathan Larson's Rent follows a year in the life of a group of impoverished young artists and musicians struggling to survive and create in New York's Lower East Side, under the shadow of HIV/AIDS.
The physical and emotional complications of the disease pervade the lives of Roger, Mimi, Tom, and Angel. Maureen deals with her chronic infidelity through performance art; her partner, Joanne, wonders if their relationship is worth the trouble. Benny has sold out his Bohemian ideals in exchange for a hefty income and is on the outs with his former friends. Mark, an aspiring filmmaker, feels like an outsider to life in general.
How these young bohemians negotiate their dreams, loves and conflicts provides the narrative thread to this groundbreaking musical.

Authentic Community Theatre presents Matilda Jr.
Friday, January 7, 2022 • 7:00 pm
Saturday, January 8, 2022 • 7:00 pm
| |
Rebellion is nigh in Matilda JR., a gleefully witty ode to the anarchy of childhood and the power of imagination! This story of a girl who dreams of a better life and the children she inspires will have audiences rooting for the "revolting children" who are out to teach the grown-ups a lesson.
Matilda has astonishing wit, intelligence... and special powers! She's unloved by her cruel parents but impresses her schoolteacher, the highly loveable Miss Honey. Matilda's school life isn't completely smooth sailing, however – the school's mean headmistress, Miss Trunchbull, hates children and just loves thinking up new punishments for those who don't abide by her rules. But Matilda has courage and cleverness in equal amounts and could be the school pupils' saving grace!
