Garland Welcomes New Animal Services Director
Art Munoz will officially join the City as the Animal Services Director on Monday, Jan. 6.
Art has spent the last 15 years with the SPCA of Texas Animal Cruelty Unit managing criminal investigations.
His collaboration with regional animal services organizations has provided a unique perspective of common problems and solutions in the field of animal welfare. Art has numerous specialized certifications involving animal welfare and law enforcement, and has assisted Garland Animal Services with animal welfare investigations.

Holiday Hours and Services: Dec. 25-26
All City of Garland offices, utility customer service and tax offices, libraries,
will be closed
Dec. 25-26. In addition, all recreation centers and senior centers will close at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 24. City offices and facilities will reopen Friday, Dec. 27, during normal business hours.
Please note the Environmental Waste Services administration offices will be closed Tuesday, Dec. 24. The Recycling Center, Transfer Station and Charles M. Hinton Jr. Regional Landfill will be closed Wednesday, Dec. 25. These facilities will be open for normal business hours Thursday, Dec. 26.
There will be no disruption in collection and disposal services Dec. 24.
Garbage, recycling, and brush and bulky collection for Wednesday, Dec. 25, will move to Thursday, Dec. 26. The regular Thursday collection will move to Friday, Dec. 27. The regular Friday collection will move to Saturday, Dec. 28. See a complete closure schedule at GarlandTX.gov.

Community Colorful Christmas at 506 Art
Add a bit of cheer and even more color to 506 Art on Main Street in Downtown Garland this holiday season!
Trees not so ordinary in color will be at 506 Art through the end of the year. These trees are fun in color and have plenty of lights, but we need our friends and neighbors in the community to add the ornaments!
You can help decorate the trees in many ways:
- Make an ornament at home and add it to the trees any time.
- Bring an ornament from home and add it to the trees any time.
- Make an ornament at 506 Art and add it to the tree any time beginning Monday, Dec. 16, through the end of the year.

Garland Fire Department Toy Drive
The Garland Fire Fighters Association and Garland Fire Department are collecting new, unwrapped toys for their annual toy drive.
Toys are being collected at all 11 Garland fire stations and at the Fire Administration and Training Facility, 1500 State Highway 66.

City Begins Issuing Warnings for Neighborhood Parking Violations
Neighborhood parking problems are the most frequent source of resident complaints to the City.
The City Marshal's Office is now issuing warnings for parking violations, and will begin issuing tickets sometime in January.
IMPORTANT - No ticket payments will be required during this warning period. The City is NOT emailing notices of violation.

Federal Disaster Loans for Storm-Affected Residents
The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) is offering low-interest federal disaster loans to Texas businesses and residents affected by the storms that occurred Oct. 20-21. Representatives are available at the Dallas County Disaster Loan Outreach Center, located at the Bachman Lake Branch Library, 9480 Webb Chapel Road in Dallas. Hours will be 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. The deadline to apply for property damage is Jan. 13, 2020. The deadline to apply for economic injury is Aug. 14, 2020.
