WOLVERINE GUARD 2020-2021

The 2020-21 Wolverine Guard Program is up and running. For those who aren’t familiar with it, WG is a Bellevue High PTSA sponsored award that recognizes students who perform 100+ hours of community service in the 12-month period from May 1st to April 30th of each school year. Students who complete the WG requirements earn a certificate of recognition and invited to a reception to honor their accomplishment.

For current guidelines, rules and required forms for WG 2020-21, please go to the BHS PTSA website, http://www.bellevuehighptsa.com/wp/ and look under BHS PTSA Programs.
As a reminder: The PTSA WG program is separate from the Bellevue School District's volunteer hours requirement for graduation. However, hours that are earned to meet graduation requirements may also be used to meet WG requirements.

While the Covid-19 situation has certainly made the process of volunteering more challenging in many ways, it has also brought with it many new needs. Thank you to those students who are seeking creative ways to volunteer during these unusual times that we are in.
For questions, please contact Annie Roth or Nancy Huenefeld Gese at wolverineguard@bellevuehighptsa.com.

School Meals During Our Remote Start

When the Bellevue School District opens the 2020-21 school year in a remote learning model, we want to ensure that students continue to have access to the nutrition they need to succeed. The Meals2Go program, offered by our Nutrition Services team, is designed to provide a grab and go breakfast and lunch option for families to access for their students.

·        Meals will be available for district enrolled students each school day from seven (7) regional locations.
·        Due to a change in federal regulations, Nutrition Services is no longer able to continue the practice of offering free meals to all children. Meals accessed through the Meals2Go program will be charged to a student’s school meal account, similar to the traditional school year.
·        Families are encouraged to complete an application for free or reduced-price school meals if they are in need of assistance. The 2020-21 application can be found at www.bsd405.org/freeandreduced.
·        To minimize interruptions with the instructional day, the pickup times for meals at our regional locations have been shifted to the late afternoon/early evening.

Meals2Go Locations & Times
·        Enatai Elementary 3:30 – 4:30 p.m.
·        Highland Middle School 4:30 – 5:30 p.m.
·        Newport Heights Elementary 3:30 – 4:30 p.m.
·        Odle Middle School 4:30 – 5:30 p.m.
·        Sammamish High School 4:00 – 5:00 p.m.
·        Tillicum Middle School 3:30 – 4:30 p.m.
·        Tyee Middle School 4:00 – 5:00 p.m.

The Meals2Go program will launch on Wednesday, September 2. Meals picked up on this day are intended for students to enjoy on their first day of school, September 3!

Follow these simple steps to pre-order meals for your student(s)
1. Visit the Bellevue School District website from your computer, tablet or smart phone to access the Meals2Go Pre-Order Form each weekend between 5:30 pm Friday and 8:00 am Monday.
The pre-order form will open Friday, August 28th to allow families to order meals for pick up beginning September 2nd.
2. If you miss the pre-order window over the weekend, contact Nutrition Services at 425-456-4507 between 7:00-8:30 am to place an order for that day’s meal pick up.
When you call, please have your student’s ID# and your preferred pick up location determined.
3. Parent’s and or guardian’s may pick up meals on behalf of their student. If your student is unable to join you at the time of meal pick up, please be prepared to share a copy of your student’s ID or ASB card, report card or other Bellevue School District issued document that includes your student’s name and student ID# with Nutrition Services staff at the time of meal pick up. This will help our curbside lines run quickly and smoothly.

Nutrition Services encourages families to utilize PayPams www.paypams.com to fund their student’s school meal account. Nutrition Services staff are additionally prepared to accept payment in the form of cash or check at our curbside lines if needed.

Look for more information regarding the Meals2Go pre-order process on the Bellevue School District website www.bsd405.org the week of August 24.
For more information contact the Nutrition Services Office at 425-456-4507 or nutrition@bsd405.org

Looking for High Schooler Camp Teachers!

We are looking for high schooler camp teachers! You can give back to the community and get volunteer hours!

We, Free Camp 4 Kids, are an all-volunteer organization aiming to help younger kids experience fun and develop passion during this unprecedented time. Free Camp 4 Kids gives all students the ability to participate in engaging classes without having to worry about financial burden.

During the Summer, we hosted classes such as singing, robotics, coding, book club, and more. Due to the huge success and positive feedback, we are planning on continuing this camp during the school year. However, we need more teachers in order for this camp to operate during the school year. We are looking for high schoolers who are passionate about building a community and who would like to share their talent and love in topics such as the ones listed above, or anything else. All the way from ballet, instruments, or even cooking, we are open to anything! Below is an application for high schoolers interested in participating in the online summer camp. Remember, you can earn volunteer hours for this!

I hope that we can all work together in bringing fun and provide an excellent experience for kids!
