Easter Blessings
Mass...
‘Believe what you read, teach what you believe, and practice what you teach.’
~Rite of Ordinations - Deacon
Public Mass is RETURNING...with restrictions!!

It's been a LONG eight weeks without Mass available to the public, but FINALLY some good news...Mass is being made available to the public once again!! It's still the Easter season, and this deserves a big ALLELUIA!!!! ALLELUIA!!! ALLELUIA!!! Our belief in the Eucharist as the true presence of Jesus Christ is what makes us different from all other Christian denominations and it is the source and summit of our faith!!

While the news of the public being able to attend Mass brings great joy, it's not going to be business as usual right out of the gate. Last week Archbishop Naumann released the protocols for conducting public Mass and it will look very different for awhile. One of the very obvious differences will be that there will be no one within six feet of you (except those in your household), so capacity will be far less than what we are used to. The health and safety of everyone is paramount as COVID-19 still poses risks. Social distancing is still necessary, and at this time Archbishop Naumann has not reinstated the Sunday obligation, which means no sin is committed if you choose not to attend or your parish cannot accommodate you. If you are sick, have been exposed to someone with the virus, or are in one of the at-risk categories you should NOT attend Mass at this time.

The Archdiocese is spread out over 21 counties in northeast Kansas, and parishes are still required to adhere to local government restrictions which in some places may be stricter than the state of Kansas has ordered. How parishes begin to reopen will vary form parish to parish, so be sure to check your parish website, social media, and read any emails/texts sent by the parish in order to know what is happening at YOUR parish.

Transitional Diaconate Ordination
This Saturday, May 16th three men will be ordained by Archbishop Naumann to the transitional diaconate. Under normal circumstances this would be a huge public celebration, but due to Covid-19 the public can only attend virtually.
Not sure you could get your kids to sit through the entire Mass? You could watch it afterwards and just watch the Rite of Ordination - point out how they lay on the floor before the altar (a sign of total dependence on God), laying on of hands and prayer of consecration (ancient apostolic gesture, links them to ministry of the bishop), clothing with the stole and dalmatic (reminds them that they 'put on Christ'), and finally them receiving the Book of the Gospels (what their ministry will be based upon).
This can be a great way to start a conversation about all vocations with your children. Have they ever thought about what God might be calling them to do with their life?
Please pray for these men as they embark on this important step towards priesthood.
Join us TONIGHT for the FINAL Digital Prayer Night...Calling the Saints, 7:00pm on both

Can't make it at 7pm? These events are recorded and posted, so you can always view later. All previous weeks are also available.
Our Sunday Supplication
During these unprecedented times when Mass is unavailable to the public, we have been dispensed from the obligation to attend Sunday Mass. However we have not been dispensed from the obligation to keep Sunday, the Lord's Day, holy.
Our Sunday Supplication offers families a way to participate in the celebration of the word of God.
The ENTIRE month of May is dedicated to Mary
photo submitted by the the Aistrup Family
The entire month of May is dedicated to Mary. She is Jesus' mother and our spiritual mother. One great way to honor Mary is with a family Rosary. Pope Francis has asked us to pray the Rosary every day in May for an end to this pandemic. If your family is not ready for a full Rosary, start with just one decade and build up to the full Rosary.

Since we honor Mary for the whole month, if you didn't get to crown her on the 1st, there is still plenty of time. Even just moving Mary to the middle of your kitchen table and putting a flower by her can serve as great reminder to pray to her and ask for her intersession.

We want to see your prayer spaces and May Crownings - send us your pictures.
Free meals available for children ages 1-18 at locations all across KS.
The KS Department of Education’s Child Nutrition and Wellness team and school districts across the state are teaming up to keep Kansas children fed while schools are closed. If you or someone you know could use help with food, please click here. Type in your zip code and it will locate the food site closest to you. Menus and serving times vary by location.
