The
Safer Congregations Committee
is working on new protocols and guidelines, from the physical safety within/without our beloved facility to our emotional and physical safety. We are developing safe protocols for cleaning and disinfecting common areas and safe food handling, as well as safe internet policies.
Being quarantined and physical distancing affects us in different ways. To some, social isolation can increase feeling of sadness. To families already in conflict, it increases stress and emotional problems. Interpersonal violence and addictive behaviors (substance abuse, internet gaming/gambling) escalate during these times, with people feeling physically and emotionally trapped. If you or someone you know is in need of help, here are some resources:

FOOD JUSTICE
- Our community is very successfully providing food— over 800 lbs and over 700 lunches over the past two weeks-- to people in desperate need. It’s necessary social action. Is it sustainable for the long term? No, it isn’t AND nor should it be. We also need to be engaging in the social justice side of food insecurity or the need to provide meals will never end. Congregations have been historically good about providing food for the hungry. Imagine what we could do if we worked together and became just as good at combining social action with social justice and ending food insecurity!
If you’re interested in discussing what we might do in conjunction with other congregations on the social policy side of hunger please email me:
