Bear Success Stories!
Mia Arenas, Class of 2022
Above: Mia with Coach Kelley
Cypress Creek HS would like to congratulate our junior Mia Arenas for representing our Girls Weightlifting team at Regionals. She placed 6th in the 154-weight class, and tied a bench press PR at 140, barely missing 150. Mia worked extremely hard this season and we couldn’t be prouder of her accomplishments!
Mia bench pressing in regional competition with Coach Kelley spotting. At the event she tied her personal best record at 140 pounds.
Dr. McHale, Principal
Cypress Creek High School and Student Services want to congratulate Dr. McHale for winning the Orange County School Counselors Association (OCSCA) High School Administrator of the Year award! Dr. McHale is a staunch supporter of our students and the Student Services team and this is a well-deserved honor.

Crazy Chairs-2021 "Uniqueness" CCHS 3D Art
The 20th century is considered as the golden age of the modern chair. Artists and designers took advantage of the latest technological innovations to re-invent an ordinary piece of furniture. We have chosen to make creative chairs proving that even a chair can be transformed into a piece of art!
~Jesus Marin, 3D art instructor

CCHS Community footnote: We only have enough space to highlight a few of the students' amazing chair pieces. There are other pieces that are also excellent . . . click here. Enjoy!

Bear in the Spotlight
Meet Ms. Lisa Niles, Security Attendant
If you walk into our administration area from the parking lot you will first be greeted by Ms. Lisa Niles. She is our wonderful security attendant and has been with CCHS for 19 1/2 years. A people person, she enjoys raising the spirits of staff, students and parent while working to help create a safe and secure environment for all. (One of her new 2020-21 responsibilities is also assisting with temperature checks and hand sanitizing for those entering the building given the Covid situation.)

When asked about any advice she might have for our Bears as she has interacted with so many students over the years, Ms. Niles shared this: "Stay in school, take full advantage of all your opportunities, and always challenge yourself!"

When not here on the campus Ms. Niles enjoys walks with her husband, spending time with her daughters and grandkids, and of course, time with her three cats!

Thank you Lisa for being part of our Bear family and for all you do to help protect our students and staff every school day!

2021 Parent Survey
Cypress Creek Parents,

If you have a student at CCHS and have already taken the 2021 parent survey, thank you very much. If not, would you kindly do so today? We depend heavily on the combined responses (we don't see the individual parent surveys as they are kept anonymous) for our school improvement efforts.

Bears Serving Our Community
Ms. Shana Call, English I Pre IB teacher as well as Leo Club Advisor and Dance Team Advisor, wrote a very short email to Assistant Principal Buxton this past week that went as follows:

"I wanted to share this with you. These kids never cease to amaze me."

She did so as the high school was notified of the students' charity recycling efforts during the 4th quarter of 2020. Our students worked to collect over a 1/4 ton (665 lbs.) of material. Great job Bears!

... the latest unemployment percentages for January 2021 continue to show the familiar pattern that those who get their education fare better in the long run when it comes to keeping their jobs (in these two charts lower percentages are actually more favorable).

Monday's Motivational Moment
Everyone Has a Story in Life

A 24-year-old boy seeing out from the train’s window shouted…

“Dad, look the trees are going behind!”

Dad smiled and a young couple sitting nearby, looked at the 24-year-old’s childish behavior with pity, when suddenly he again exclaimed…

“Dad, look the clouds are running with us!”

The couple couldn’t resist and said to the old man…

“Why don’t you take your son to a good doctor?” The old man smiled and said… “I did and we are just coming from the hospital, my son was blind from birth, he just got his eyes today.”

The lesson for our Bears? Every single person on the planet has a story. Please don’t judge people before you truly know them as the truth might surprise you!

Have a great week Bears!
