Low-Cost Road Survey Technologies

The condition of roads is often surveyed by special survey vehicles and survey instruments specializing in collecting different functional or structural condition parameters of a road or road network. These systems are mainly specially designed for these specific data collection tasks and are quite expensive. The aim of this IRF webinar is to present, with a few examples, low-cost road measurement methods that can be used to collect different road condition and traffic data needed in modern asset management processes. The instruments can be often installed in ordinary cars and the data collection can often be automatized so that the data is transferred in real time directly to the cloud, allowing real-time condition monitoring.
