Meet our New DFC Project Director
AC4C received the Drug Free Communities
Grant funding for years 6-10. Jennifer H usmann has been hired to serve as the new Project Director.  Jennifer is an Advanced Certified Prevention Specialist through the Area Substance Abuse Council and has worked as a Project Coordinator with the Jones County Safe and Healthy Youth Coalition primarily for the past 15 years.  She has a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work from Luther College.  She started her career as a youth director in Monticello for 8 years and also worked over 7 years in the Anamosa and Olin School Districts through their Family Resource Centers as a Family Support Worker, Parent Educator, and Early Access Service Coordinator. Jennifer has been a part of AC4C since its inception in 2005. She has spearheaded the Policy Work Group and has been on the Executive Board since 2013. She started implementing the very popular and successful Youth Substance Abuse Prevention Day on the Hill in 2009. Jennifer and her husband live and work on a farm in Jones County and have two grown children and 3 grandchildren.

  • 3rd Monday is Nicotine
  • 4th Monday is Alcohol

YOUTH SUBSTANCE ABUSE PREVENTION DAY ON THE HILL
  Monday, February 10, 2020
  Agenda for the Day:
1 0:00-10:15 - Arrive at Jessie Parker building
10:15- 11: 45 - Youth training and pizza lunch
11:45- Noon - Transfer to Capitol
Noon-12:30 - Set up for Press Conference in the Rotunda, or quick tours and greetings with Legislators
12:30-1:00 - Press Conference with youth speakers  and other guest speakers
1:00- ? - Introductions in the House or Senate as their meetings are called to order, meetings with Legislators, tours of  the Capitol
 
An updated toolkit on the event will be coming soon including registration, specific speakers and theme.
