Council passes ordinance requiring masks
The Round Rock City Council unanimously approved Monday, June 29, an Emergency Ordinance requiring face coverings for individuals age 10 and older in public places when adequate social distancing is not possible to slow the spread of COVID-19. The ordinance also requires businesses to display a notice of the requirement.

Fourth of July events canceled due to COVID-19
The City of Round Rock has canceled its Fourth of July parade plans due to the increasing number of COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations in the community. The Rock’N River July 4th Pool Party has also been canceled. Residents who purchased a ticket for the Pool Party will be able to use the ticket for a one-day entry to Rock’N River any day during the season.

Save water with new rain barrels during sale
The City’s Water Conservation Program is selling rain barrels at a discounted price to encourage residents to conserve water resources and protect water quality. Fifty-gallon, black barrels are currently available for $72.50. Barrels may be pre-ordered online for pickup in August at the City’s Utilities and Transportation Building, 3400 Sunrise Road.

City approves new 10-year comprehensive plan
After two years of public input, the City’s new comprehensive plan, Round Rock 2030, was adopted by City Council on June 25. Round Rock 2030 will serve as the policy guide and framework for land use decisions for the next decade. The plan will highlight how the City has changed over the past decade and create a vision for what Round Rock might look like in 2030.

Round Rock Fire Department hosting fan drive
As temperatures continue to rise this summer, the Round Rock Fire Department is asking residents to give back to their neighbors who need help.

The Round Rock Fire Department’s Community Risk Reduction program is now accepting donated fans through Aug. 31. Donations will help provide heat relief to seniors, adults with disabilities and families in need. New boxed fans can be dropped off at the fire stations listed below:

· Station 1 (203 Commerce Blvd.)
· Station 2 (200. W. Bagdad Ave.)
· Station 4 (1301 Double Creek Drive)
· Station 5 (350 Deepwood Drive)
· Station 7 (2811 Oakmond Blvd.)
· Station 8 (1612 Red Bud Lane)

To help slow the spread of COVID-19, fire stations will only accept contactless donations at the front door.

The Community Risk Reduction program focuses on proactively improving quality of life for residents by identifying fire and life safety risks early and preventing them from happening.

Fireworks prohibited within City limits
The City of Round Rock explicitly prohibits the sale or use of any fireworks. Use or possession of fireworks is a Class A misdemeanor punishable by a fine of up to $2,000 and/or six months in jail.

Fireworks include devices which make a visible or audible effect when set off and Round Rock’s ordinance specifically outlaws possession and use of sparklers, skyrockets and firecrackers.
