Over the past few months, we’ve had lots of time to contemplate our lives and our stories.

The COVID-19 global pandemic has been described by some as a “turning point" and the word legacy is being used frequently in stories and conversations.

Matt Paxton, a NASMM colleague of ours, created a new TV show -- he was the host of the popular show, Hoarders -- and he's getting ready to film the second season. Legacy List is a show about older adults, their families and their stuff. Matt meets with his clients, finds out more about them, helps them downsize, organize and move… and discovers a few of their family treasures in the process.

In this changing world, what will your legacy be?

simply yours...

DIVA JUNE CHALLENGE
I went online and googled “legacy - definition” and discovered some interesting suggestions about creating a legacy.

Here are some ideas to get you thinking…

  • Create NEW Traditions – During COVID-19, families are spending more time together. Is there something you’ve been enjoying as a family that you want to continue to do on a regular basis?

  • Research your family tree…together! Genealogy is fascinating and an activity you can explore as a family. There’s so much to learn and it all has to do with you and your stories.

  • Get the picture! There are likely lots of photo albums gathering dust at your house, your parents’ house and possibly, your grandparents’ house. Liberate the photos, identify the important ones and discover the stories behind them.

  • Everyone has a story. Add to your knowledge of your family history by setting up times to chat with family members. COVID-19 has been a watershed experience for us and there were other significant events that people remember and can tell you exactly where they were and what they were doing when they happened! Find out the personal stories behind the headlines.

  • Life is uncertain. Eat dessert first! Over the past few months, we've seen how the world can change in a heartbeat. Spend your time and energy pursuing activities you love with people who bring joy to your life.

Live your best life...
it’s a legacy unto itself.
