JUST WHO DO WE THINK WE ARE?

there'd be none of the ills that face humanity today."

WE ARE CO-CREATORS

"As you stir in thought, winds begin to howl,
As you smile, waves of love lap upon eternal beaches,
As you speak, the floodgates of abundance and good fortune begin to tremble, and
As you dream, the stars realign."

Mike Dooley, The Top Ten Things Dead People Want to Tell You, p. 128

Greetings!

The poetic statement by Mike Dooley at the top of this issue under the picture of the mountains and the sea is one of my favorites. It is such a powerful way to describe the power of our thoughts! In this issue, I'm bringing together statements from various authors who write and teach about the law of attraction, which I believe is our way of co-creating with the Universe.

In the Bible story of the burning bush, Moses asked who was speaking to him, and God replied "I am that I am." I believe that we are all a part of that "I am" consciousness. Have you ever stopped to think about each individual consciousness? It's a simple concept, but it may be easy to overlook the awesomeness of it. I think it's amazing that each one of us is "I am" from the perspective of our own minds. We are all "I ams."

Spiritual teachers tell us that we are "one" with the Universe and with all conscious beings. I believe that is because we all have a share of that divine consciousness. "While we are not the whole, we are part of the whole, with the same essence as that from which we came. In this way, God is within every one of us--with no exceptions..!" Karen Noe, We Consciousness, p. 7

Wayne Dyer described this concept using the analogy of the ocean as God, or the "I am that I am" consciousness, and each individual being as a cup of that ocean water. In this analogy, we are not the whole ocean, but we are from the ocean and have the same make-up as the ocean.

Neurophysicists have found that consciousness does not originate in the brain but operates outside of the brain. The brain is a tool for us to use, but it is not the originator of our consciousness, or even our thoughts.

Dr. Eben Alexander tells the story of his near-death experience in his book Proof of Heaven. He was in a coma in the ICU unit of Lynchburg General Hospital in Lynchburg, VA, where he worked as a neurosurgeon, but this day he was a patient due to a severe meningitis infection. At the same time that he was eventually pronounced brain dead by his co-workers, he was experiencing a "vibrant, elaborate journey into many layers of higher dimensions." After he emerged from his coma seven days later, he came to find out that his brain had not been functioning even though he had been experiencing consciousness. That experience began his journey from a physician who was trained to believe that consciousness existed entirely as a function of the brain to one who understood its spiritual connection. He has continued to explore the subject of consciousness in his book Living in a Mindful Universe. From Living in a Mindful Universe, p.xiv

I believe that we are co-creators of our lives through our thoughts and beliefs, whether we know it or not. The law of attraction is working through our shared divine consciousness. The lesson is for us to pay attention to our thoughts, and as Mike Dooley says, "Choose the good ones!" The good news is that we CAN choose our thoughts! When we find ourselves thinking of something that we don't want, we can use that thought to quickly pivot to thoughts of what we do want instead.

Spiritual teachers and quantum physicists tell us it is about matching our energy or "vibration" waves to the positive ones in the Universe--but we'll get to that other issues! There is more to it, of course, but for now, reaching for the next best thought is a good place to start!

For those who might be interested in further reading on this topic, I would recommend any of the books or websites that are documented in this issue.
Be well and enjoy your amazing life!
Shari

More Authors Speaking About Co-Creating

"Thoughts become things. Choose them wisely."

"Not just sometimes but all of the time. And not just your good thoughts but the other ones too! It's an immutable law, as rigid and predictable as gravity. In fact, you can't ever turn it off. But, of course, this isn't bad news; it's awesome news, because they're your thoughts and every minute of every day you get to choose exactly what you'll think!"

Mike Dooley, Choose Them Wisely, p. 2
"The Secret is the law of attraction!"

"Everything that's coming into your life you are attracting into your life. And it's attracted to you by virtue of the images you're holding in your mind. It's what you're thinking. Whatever is going on in your mind you are attracting to you."

Bob Proctor, The Secret by Rhonda Byrne, p. 4

"Every thought of yours is a real thing--a force."

"Whatever the mind is set upon, or whatever it keeps most in view, that it is bringing to it, and the continual thought or imagining must at last take form and shape in the world of seen and tangible things."

Prentice Mulford (1834-1891)
Quoted from The Secret, by Rhonda Byrne, pgs. 4 & 193
“By choosing your thoughts, and by selecting which emotional currents you will release and which you will reinforce, you determine the quality of your light.
You determine the effects that you will have upon others and the nature
of the experiences of your life.”

Gary Zukav, author of The Seat of the Soul
"The law of attraction is really obedient. When you think of the things that you want, and you focus on them with all of your intention, then the law of attraction will give you exactly what you want, every time.

(From Shari: That is, if you don't sabotage your thoughts with doubts or feelings of lack of the thing you want--that will bring you more of the lack instead, because that's what you're focusing on.)

When you focus on the things that you don't want--'I don't want to be late, I don't want to be late'--the law of attraction doesn't hear that you don't want it. It manifests the things that you're thinking of, and so it's going to show up over and over and over again. The law of attraction is not biased to wants or don't wants. When you focus on something, no matter what it happens to be, you really are calling that into existence."

(From Shari: Lisa Nichols is suggesting that instead of focusing on lateness, we can flip the thought to its opposite positive side and say, "I want to be on time.")

Quote from The Secret by Rhonda Byrne, p. 12

"Worrying is using your imagination to
create something you don't want."

Esther Hicks
"The reason that what you resist persists is because if you're resisting something, you're saying, 'No, I don't want this thing, because it makes me feel this way--the way I am feeling right now.' So you're putting out a really strong emotion of, "I really don't like this feeling,' and then it comes racing toward you....

As you resist what has appeared, you are adding more energy and more power to those pictures you don't like, and you are bringing more of them at a furious rate. The event or circumstances can only get bigger, because that is the law of the Universe....

You have to go within and emit a new signal with your thoughts and feelings to create a new picture."

Affirmations from Louise Hay

"My mind is a tool I can choose to use any way I wish."

"I now choose to believe it is becoming easier for me
to make changes."

"There is an incredible power and intelligence within you constantly responding to your thoughts and words. As you learn to control your mind by the conscious choice of thoughts, you align yourself with this power. Do not think your mind is in control. You are in control of your mind. You use your mind. You can stop thinking those old thoughts."
Louise Hay, You Can Heal Your Life, p. 66

Louise taught that your point of power is always in the present moment, where you plant the mental seeds for creating new experiences.
