COVID-19 continues to impact our community, state, and nation.
At this time, the library is CURBSIDE ONLY. You can pick up holds, program kits for all ages, and get staff help via phone and email during all open hours. You can browse new books on our website, request librarian picks, and even grab a Lucky Day book or two. This is also a great time to explore online resources such as digital magazines, e-books, movies from hoopla, and more. If you need help with these tools, let us know!
BEGINNING MONDAY, DECEMBER 7th, curbside pickups will take place in the lobby and we'll offer contactless "carside" service for those who need that option. Simply stay in your vehicle and call us!
We do not have an estimated end date for this service change, but we are working closely with the North Shore Health Department to determine when the COVID-19 numbers have decreased enough that in-library service becomes safe again.

Silver Linings
2020 has been a challenging year for most organizations, including public libraries. But, as I reflect on this last year, I see some service enhancements that we’ll keep in place long after this global pandemic is behind us.
We found new ways to connect with you including starting a podcast highlighting library resources and news, a platform we hadn’t considered before.
We delivered engaging experiences right to your home by transforming some of our programs to a “take and make” format with instructions and supplies for projects appealing to all ages.
There will be other resources and services that we’ll keep post-pandemic, but rest assured, we will get back to the business of being a community hub where you can learn, connect, and explore in person with your neighbors inside the library.

PROGRAM PREVIEW: ONLINE & AT HOME
|
|
Virtual programming is a great way to stay connected as we all continue to stay home as much as possible.
Here's what we're offering online for you this month:
On December 15th, Rhyme Time Tuesday comes to you via Facebook starting at 9:00 AM. You can enjoy the rhymes and songs for a week after Ms. Heide posts her video.

|
All take-home activities are available via curbside pickup. Just ask when you arrive! No advance notice or requests required.
Every Wednesday, Ms. Susan shares a new Art Cart activity you can do two ways: get the instructions online and use materials you have at home, or pick up a kit with everything you need!
For students who need a break from virtual learning: on Thursday, December 17th, teens can pick up a Make & Take kit with supplies for DIY self-care, and on Monday, December 28th, kids in third grade and up can grab a Tinker Lab To Go kit to make Art Bots.
Lastly, on Friday, December 18th, adults get in on the fun with a Grown-Up Take & Make kit with supplies for a wreath.

Adventurer Aspen Mattis offers a personal account of loving nature as a child and seeking refuge and healing in the outdoors by ultimately walking the Pacific Crest Trail from Mexico to Canada. Mattis gives great details of self discovery and the "magic" she finds in life through her experience. It is both a very particular story as well as a general coming-of-age memoir of a young woman's experience. If you've read Cheryl Strayed's Wild you will like Girl in the Woods as well. It's a story with a message to take to heart.

Travel back to the '80s with Quan Barry's We Ride Upon Sticks. Barry's second novel follows the 1989 Danvers High School girls field hockey team as they struggle to win... until they turn to black magic and Sabrina-like witchcraft. Barry skillfully combines the trials and tribulations of high school, strong personalities, and the importance of teamwork with pop culture references like Pat Benatar, Emilio Estevez, and MTV. We Ride Upon Sticks is a well-written romp that is worth sticking with to the end (no pun intended).

If you're looking to curl up with a good rom-com to take your mind off of, well, everything this month, you'll be pleased with We Met in December. Jess relocates from small town England to London to pursue her dreams in publishing. Instant chemistry with a new roommate threatens to derail her plans, and complicate her otherwise ideal living situation in Notting Hill. For fans of similarly London-set romantic comedies like Love Actually and last year's hit Hulu miniseries, Four Weddings and a Funeral.

INFORMATION YOU CAN TRUST
|
With so many sources for information, it can be hard to sort out fact from fiction and to determine who to trust.
It is more vital than ever to be certain that you are accessing and sharing the most factual and authoritative information you can.
The state of Wisconsin has created a one-stop resource for information on COVID-19. With links to relevant state agencies and updated news releases, you can easily stay on top of the facts.
