September is the month of the official start to fall. I don’t know about you, but this is personally my favorite season of the year. Not only because my birthday falls during this time, but the beauty of the leaves changing, the days slowly getting shorter, and finding ourselves inside more with warm spicy beverages and cozy candles is a nice transition from all the activity of summer. As with the changes of this season, it’s important to prepare our bodies for the natural ebb and flow we see in nature.

What is Sciatica and How It’s Treated
Ryan Hastie, PT, DPT, CSCS

Many people will experience low back pain at some point in their lifetime. Sometimes low back pain can extend down the back of the hip and leg in what is known as sciatica. Sciatica is a symptom, not a diagnosis. There are many causes of the often-debilitating pain associated with sciatica. The most common symptom of sciatic nerve pain is pain that extends into the hip, buttock and down the back of your leg. Symptoms can include sharp, shooting pain, numbness/tingling and/or weakness in the leg.
