Dreamers

The story of Advent is the story of dreamers; men and women who had dreams and visions of angels who foretold things yet to pass. But they also had different kinds of dreams; hopes, desires, and ambitions for their lives and their world. This Advent season, lets dream together about the world to come.

Much Love to Robin Lovett-Owen

It is time for Robin to leave us to begin her year of internship in the Lutheran tradition. We are thankful for her energetic kindness and leadership and wish her much happiness.

Come Get Your Stuff!
Removal December 19th

As we do every year, we have a nice collection of water bottles, glasses and all sort of flotsam and jetsam in our lost and found, located on the coat rack right next to our coffee cart. If you think you have something there, please come get it, as it will be given to Goodwill on Thursday December 19th. We also have furniture under the stairs near the parlor if you want to take a look at that and take anything you need.

Our next book will be, Re-imagine The World - An Introduction to the Parables of Jesus by Bernard Brandon Scott.  The re-imagined world, called the kingdom of God, presents his followers with a new option for living, contrasting the default world of the everyday.  The new world must have been both terrifying and liberating.  Join us for the lively discussion on Tuesday, December 17, 8:00 am sharp, in the Main Lobby.  Any questions, contact Brian Hamilton.

Gun Violence Initiative
Jan. 8 -Feb. 12, 2020

Gun violence, sadly, is a part of what seems like the daily news.  How can we change things?  How can we make sense of what's happening?  How does our faith call us to respond?
FCC will be working with Faith Lutheran and St. Mark's  knowing that together we can do more than on our own to explore, asking questions, and look at what next steps are.  This curriculum will be facilitated by members of all three churches and allow us to enter into deep conversations with one another around the issues of gun violence. This initiative will kick off with a Film Screening on January 8th and conclude with a panel discussion at Glenbard West on February 12. For more information and to register, please click here.

Cabin Fever Game Night
Mon., December 30th from 7 - 9 PM

Family has gathered, and all of our decorations are still in place. We celebrated Jesus' birth and woke to unwrap presents; but what to do after the guests have departed, the wrapping paper is recycled and there's still an entire week until school starts again? Here's a chance to bring the family (and some friends) to try out a new game or play a beloved favorite. There'll be games of all sorts - (but bring one of your own if you want!), room for kids to blow off some steam - regardless of the weather outside -  snacks, beverages and fellowship to chase away that Cabin Fever!
RSVP to Sylvia (or text 630-640-2425) so we can have enough snacks and beverages!
