CLC hosted over 110 guests at the launch of our new "hub" at 1663 Mission Street, Suite 525. If you missed the party, stop by to say "Hi" on weekdays between 10:00 and 4:00. Come and try our computer lab, scan some pictures, or just bring your lunch.

Attempt to Weaken Dignity Fund Halted (For Now)
The Board of Supervisors proposed changing the level of funding that would go to the Dignity Fund and other set-asides. The Dignity Fund Coalition mobilized to successfully block efforts to weaken the Dignity Fund and other set-asides at the January 17 and 24 meetings of the Board of Supervisors Rules Committee. However, the legislative sponsors Supervisor Aaron Peskin and Katy Tang only agreed to postpone discussion and action until the November ballot.
Our next step is to develop a community strategy for this challenge, as well as the 2018-19 budget year. Join us at the next Dignity Fund Coalition meeting
on Wednesday, January 31
from 2:30 - 4:30 PM
at 825 Howard Street.

Richmond Senior Center hosted one of our "Preserving
Memories" events for seniors to get their photographs scanned and ready to share with others.
Director Kaleda Walling shows just how easy scanning is in this video. CLC is working with the San Francisco Tech Council to show how technology can connect people with family and friends, while capturing history!

Women's March Connects the Generations
Dr. Margaret Miller, former CLC Board member and long-time community leader, organized us to join her for the second year in a row for the Women's March.
As Margaret approaches her 96th Birthday, she remains committed to supporting the causes of women in our country and abroad.
As she stated,
"As a physician, and child and family advocate in my professional life, I feel compelled to participate actively in this important event."

Be Prepared - The Life You Save May Be Your Own
While everyone has "the right to be rescued" in an urban area, first responders and other emergency personnel will be overwhelmed in a major emergency. This workshop emphasized the importance for people with disabilities to be prepared, to develop their own personal support team, and to be ready to create their own path to safety.
CLC sponsored the workshop on emergency preparedness for people with disabilities, along with the FDR Democratic Club, the Lighthouse, and the Independent Living Resource Center featuring speakers in the room and via Skype.

"Can my home grow old with me and keep me not only safe but also comfortable and happy?"
This workshop is free and co-sponsored by At Home With Growing Older and the

. Participants will learn about age-friendly design and what they can do to make their home work better for them.
