Dear Parents-
Last Monday, Gov. Ralph Northam shared his three phase plan to “reopen” Virginia. In doing so, he extended Executive Order 53 until May 15. This order is the order that closed all non-essential businesses, and it was originally set to expire today, May 8.
In the three phase plan, the Governor expects Virginia to move to phase one on Friday, May 15. Phase One states the following: Vulnerable individuals remain home, No social gatherings of more than 10 individuals, Continued social distancing, Continued teleworking, Face coverings recommended in public, Easing limits on business and faith communities. Once Phase One begins on May 15, it will last for two-four weeks, or longer if necessary. Moving to Phase One and then moving to succeeding phases will require meeting certain criteria relative to the coronavirus and its spread.
The Governor clearly stated that some jurisdictions, especially Northern Virginia, may not move as quickly into Phase One.
Phase Two allows for groups of up to 50, maintaining social distance, and Phase Three removes capacity limits and group size. It is expected that Phase Three will be reached in 10-12 weeks. You can access this information at all news organization websites, but particularly,

The Governor hopes to see schools open on time in August or September. Fairfax County Public Schools is actively analyzing data to inform the school opening decision. Spokesperson Lucy Caldwell announced,
"We do have a committee that is looking at these issues and planning for them. They will make a preliminary presentation on May 11 at the school board meeting."
The Office of Catholic Schools will take guidance from both FCPS as well as from the Virginia Council for Private Education (VCPE). St. Joseph Catholic School will follow the guidance given to us from OCS.
Any updates or announcements that affect the school will be shared with parents as soon as practicable.
As always, please let me know if you have any questions, or if I can be of any assistance.
Welcome one another...as Christ welcomed you!
