Focus on School Age Care
DCDC provides before and after school care to children in the Danville Area School District. During holidays and summer, we also serve children from the surrounding communities in our Four Star Keystone STARS school age program. The program, located on Bloom Rd, has been in operation for over 30 years, and most recently began operations in its new home on Bloom Road in 2012.
Our program provides engaging, enriching activities and experiences to school aged children after school throughout the school year and full day during the summer. Programming is provided in a safe and nurturing environment by highly qualified and trained staff.
DCDC’s SACK program provides engaging, enriching activities and experiences for school aged children after school and daily during the summer with the following goals: improving engagement in school, fostering a healthy sense of well-being, and supporting working families.
While in our program, children engage in activities that support the development of academic competencies, critical thinking, engagement in learning, and other cognitive skills. Children have the freedom to explore new ideas, take intellectual and creative risks, and stretch themselves and their understanding of concepts in ways that are not always supported in school. Teachers play an important role by planning and providing opportunities for children to engage in hands on learning in meaningful ways. SACK is a natural fit for furthering a child’s engagement in learning as program time is more fluid and less structured than within the school day.
