Dear Friend,

This time of year, there is no better place to be than here in House District 66. Enjoying cider and donuts or a football game on a crisp fall day, these are some of the great things about living here.

Even as the leaves change and we think about the end of the gardening season, fall is also a time of beginnings. On October 18, many of the bills we passed into law earlier this year will go into effect, including a bill I sponsored at the request of local Girl Scout Troop 30. It was a real pleasure to work with these young women to turn their concerns about injured wildlife into a law that will help them access rehabilitators.

Additional legislation going into effect include measures to dedicate funds to attract and retain qualified workers in Maine, provide financial support to older adults and their family caregivers and expand affordable housing options.

On October 25, legislative leaders will vote on which bills will be considered during the next session, which begins in January. Between now and then, I look forward to continuing to hear from community members. Please feel welcome to contact me at any time with your ideas, questions and concerns.
As always, it is an honor to serve you in the Maine House of Representatives.

Be well,

Jess Fay
