We need your help connecting with veterans, and their families!
As we are all abundantly aware, we are in the middle of a pandemic. For our work, that means no shoots because of social distancing guidelines. Also fundraising is at a standstill due to the prohibition of gatherings and an uncertain economy. But the team still works. We continue researching and are trying to use our time as effectively as possible.
Part of our story, and one of its central themes, is the effect of war on those who are left behind: family members who lost a loved one or had to care for those that came back with injuries, including PTSD. Robert Kurtz’s tragic death is one very personal example. At the early age of 33, Robert’s passing left his wife Peggy with the responsibility of raising their four young sons alone. The tragedy echoed down the decades for all of them, impelling Jim to search for the identity of the father he never knew. Jim Kurtz’s story about his father is the core of the film.
In order to illustrate how widespread and often devastating the effects of war are, we need to interview veterans and their families that were involved in more recent conflicts. To do this, we need contacts for veterans involved in previous wars or conflicts of the past few decades.
