ENCOURAGE CONGRESS TO FUND A
MATERNAL MENTAL HEALTH HOTLINE
The House of Representatives has included $3.5 million in its FY21 budget to fund a Maternal Mental Health Hotline. Join MMHLA in encouraging the Senate to also provide funding for this important new project. Our goal is to have 100 signatory organizations from the fields of maternal mental health and maternal-child health at the national, state, and local levels.

ACOG CALL FOR PROPOSALS
The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists has issued a call for proposals for its 2021 Annual Clinical and Scientific Meeting in Washington DC, April 30-May 3. Learn more HERE.
  • Clinical Seminar: 45-minute session with one speaker providing a lecture. 
  • EdTalk: 45-minute session with three speakers unified by an overarching theme.
  • Lunch Conversation: small group discussion (10 people) on one subject.
  • Hands-On Courses: 3-hour and 6-hour courses providing both didactic and interactive learning. 
  • Postgraduate Courses: 3-hour and 6-hour clinically-oriented courses.

MATERNAL TELEHEALTH ACCESS PROJECT
CALL FOR PROPOSALS
The Maternal Telehealth Access Project seeks applications for projects to provide maternal care services via telehealth. Learn more HERE.
  • Projects must focus on ensuring women at highest risk receive quality maternal care services via telehealth during the pandemic.
  • Agencies and organizations that provide maternal health care support or services are eligible.
  • Applicants must use or be interested in using telehealth services.
  • This project is part of the Maternal Health Learning and Innovation Center, which fosters collaboration and learning to accelerate evidence-informed interventions for advancing equitable maternal health outcomes.

CHALLENGE TO IMPROVE
RURAL POSTPARTUM MENTAL HEALTH
The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality has announced a competition to improve postpartum mental health care for rural American families. Cash prizes total $175,000. Learn more HERE.
  • AHRQ is seeking both success stories that highlight community achievements and program proposals that demonstrate innovative planning for community action to improve postpartum mental health.
  • Solutions are welcome from healthcare providers; community organizations and clubs; faith-based groups; cooperative extension services; schools; hospitals; local health departments; state, territorial, and tribal organizations.
  • Programmatic models may leverage existing community assets and initiatives (i.e., Healthy Start, Head Start, 4-H Healthy Living, etc.) or create them de novo.

SUICIDE RESEARCH FUNDING
The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention has several funding opportunities for research into suicide prevention. Grants range from $30,000 to $450,000. Learn more HERE.
  • Research grants are available in 6 categories including standard research, postdoctoral research, and pilot innovation.
  • A high-priority area is in diversity: suicide prevention research related to underrepresented communities, health and mental health disparities and inequities, as well as researchers from underrepresented backgrounds.
  • Suicide Research Grants support studies aimed at increasing the understanding of the causes of suicide and factors related to suicide risk, or that test treatments and other interventions designed to prevent suicide.
  • Investigators from all academic disciplines are eligible to apply, and both basic science and applied research projects will be considered, provided that the proposed study has an essential focus on suicide or suicide prevention.
  • NOTE: Some grants require a Letter of Interest due September 15.
