Three years ago, Melody Wilkinson, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC, FAANP, started taking graduate nursing students to the town of Clay, West Virginia, to do community service and health education.

Over the last year, Vesna Petronic-Rosic, MD, MSc, MBA, has doubled the number of dermatology faculty, providing new educational experiences for Georgetown medical students and MedStar residents.

Spevak Speaks About Addiction at White House Convening
At a June 25 Office of National Drug Control Policy convening at the White House, Christopher Spevak, MD, MPH, JD, professor of clinical anesthesiology at Georgetown University Medical Center, spoke about expanding the addiction workforce and access to treatment across health care systems. The meeting was attended by national medical, health systems and insurance leaders, in collaboration with the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the American College of Academic Addiction Medicine.

On the recommendation of the Emergency Committee, WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus declared the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC) after a man with Ebola traveled undetected to Goma, a city of about one million people and transportation hub perched on the Rwandan border.
In the first of its kind study, plastic surgeons at Georgetown University Medical Center found that when a man chose to have a nip or a tuck on his face, it significantly increased perceptions of attractiveness, likeability, social skills or trustworthiness.
