Director's Letter

It's hard to believe that another year is already coming to a close. Each year seems to pass by faster than the year before, probably because, as time slips by, we find more things that we want to accomplish and simultaneously recognize that we have less time left to do so. At the BTER Foundation, we have lots of things that we still want to accomplish - new support programs for therapists and patients, expanded benefits for members, research into the neglected biotherapies, and more. To help accomplish our goals faster and better, we are looking for new members for our Board of Directors.

The BTER Foundation has always had a diverse and dynamic Executive Board, comprised of Champions - men and women dedicated to advancing health care by ensuring that a deeper knowledge of biotherapy as well as medicinal animals themselves be made available to all who can benefit. The Board ensures that the BTER Foundation accomplishes its mission by getting input from the community and then putting together a list of priorities every year. The Board also ensures that the Foundation has the resources - the facilities, personnel, funds, and support - to carry out its mission. Sometimes this is the hardest job of the Board members, but they always come through, because they are a team of dedicated volunteers; they are our Champions.

This month, in addition to expressing my appreciation for all of the Members of the Board of Directors, I want to welcome anyone else who wants to join us on our mission. We are expanding our Executive Board and YOU could be one of our greatest assets. Be a Director, on the Board of Champions, and Help Us Help You.

Best wishes this Holiday Season, and Always,

Intern Profile: Claudia De Novaes Davidson
Claudia De Novaes Davidson was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She first came to the United States in 1981, and  fell in love with the country. Following that life changing trip, her dream was to return to the U.S. to study and develop a better quality of life for herself.  She received her bachelor's degree from Universidade Federal Fluminense school of  Pharmacy, and worked for eleven years as the manager of Pharmacy Leme pharmacy. Finally, in 2001, she received a n F1 Visa to study at Irvine Valley College in California. Claudia graduated from the Honors Program, and went on to study at Santa Ana College. She received her Masters in Biotechnology at California State University, Fullerton. Claudia's quest for knowledge and skill in the pharmaceutical industry led her to an internship with Gilead Sciences, and ultimately to the BTER Foundation, where she just finished an internship in Regulatory Affairs and Quality Control, honing her abilities at Monarch Labs in Irvine, CA.  We applaud Claudia's hard work and are grateful for her dedication to the BTER Foundation and the advancement of biotherapy.
