Important Message from Serra High School
Dear Parents and Guardians,

There is always extra excitement as we head into May. For many, it is the warmer weather welcoming us into spring. For Serra, it is the month we celebrate the members of our senior class and the accomplishments they achieved during their four years as Padres.

While we understand that the worldwide health crisis may be the defining event of this year, and possibly even the century, it does not define our students. Our students have forged ahead and achieved remarkable success on all levels, and their response to the challenges presented to them is to be honored and celebrated.

At this point, most of the seniors have made their college selections, and we celebrate with the students and their families. As is the case every year, the selections include every UC and California State University, as well as selective colleges and programs throughout the country.  (See the previous update - HERE .)

In addition, we acknowledge seniors who have not just excelled academically, but who have truly represented Serra's mission to develop men of faith, wisdom and service--men who build community and make a difference in the world. As a result, Serra chooses three valedictorians in a lengthy process that involves identifying the top academic scholars of the class, a written application, an advisory vote of the senior class and deliberations of the administrative leadership. We are proud that Jack Dugoni, Sriyah Erra and Paul Mansfield have achieved this unique honor. We look forward to hearing their perspectives as they speak to their brothers in the major culminating events of the year.

Starting today, and as we move into May, we will be highlighting our valedictorians, our academic award medalists, our artists and honor society members, our athletes, and ultimately, every senior in profiles that reflect their personal Serra experiences.  We look forward to sharing these stories with you. We trust that you will see in their stories, the hope, perseverance and excellence that is the hallmark of a Serra Padre revealed in the unique journey of each of our seniors. They personify Serra's mission in its lived reality.

Sincerely,
