DMR 2021 Calendars Available at Gunter Library

The Mississippi Department of Marine Resources’ (DMR) 2021 Marine Information Calendars are now available at Gunter Library. In 2020, DMR held a photo contest. Each month features a winning photo from the contest.
The 2021 calendar features the offices and programs that DMR administers to protect coastal resources. The free calendar includes tide data, sunrise and sunset times, moon phases, artificial reef coordinates, size and possession limits for fish, boating safety requirements and Mississippi saltwater fish records.

Farewell to Kristen Dean
Library Intern Kristen Dean accepted a professional position as Youth Services Coordinator with the Harrison County Public Library System in Gulfport. Dean worked at Gunter Library two days a week during the Fall 2020 semester and January 2021. We wish her all the best of luck and success in her new position.
COA Virtual Seminar Series

The COA Seminar Committee is excited to announce the seminar schedule for the spring semester. Seminars are approximately every other Friday from 9:30-10:30 am. All seminars will be virtual, using Zoom.

   ASLI Conference

On January 14, Head Librarian Joyce Shaw served as program chair and co-presented at the 24th Annual Atmospheric Sciences Librarians International conference, held in conjunction with the 101st America Meteorological Society annual conference. Shaw co-presented with Assistant Professor Jamie Stanfield, the Science, Nursing, and Health librarian at the Gulf Coast Library at the Gulf Park Campus. The talk is titled: Strengthening Engagement with Graphic Novels: Climate Change, Clean Energy, and the World. The work included an annotated bibliography of graphic publications about ocean pollution, climate change, and energy.
