Day of the Dead Campus Celebration

Join us on Tues., Nov. 2 in the atrium of Hagerty Hall for a free Día de los Muertos celebration co-sponsored by the Dept. of Spanish & Portuguese, Office of Diversity & Inclusion, Latina/o Studies, Sigma Delta Pi, Building Anti-racist Ohio, and CLAS.

Activities will include:
10:30am-1pm: Árbol de deseos, interactive ofrenda, pan de muerto, hot chocolate, sugar skull giveaways
1:30-2:30pm: honoring of our ancestors, community sharing

Afro-Descendant Activism in Argentina

Join us for a series of panel discussions with Afro-Argentine legal scholar activists to discuss the challenges African and Afro-descendants face in Argentina. The panelists will provide insight into the legal fight against racism in the Argentine landscape.

Spring 2022 Course on Bolivia

In Spring 2022, the Dept. of Spanish and Portuguese will offer a course entitled SPAN 4516 - The Formation of Bolivian National Cultures. This course, taught in English, will provide an overview of Bolivian literatures and cultures and how they reflect the country's identities, as well as its changing social, political, and cultural realities in the process of national formation.

The class will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays 3:55 - 5:15PM, is a Level 1 College Credit Plus course, and meets the Area Studies requirement of the FLAS fellowship.

Plaza Pública

Join the Latin American Student Association at Columbus State Community College for Plaza Pública, their weekly Spanish conversation table. This Wednesday, Nov. 3 (3pm EDT), LASA invites guest speaker Professor Edgardo Gómez.

Gómez is a social scientist who will present on the Argentine educational system as well as give an overview of Patagonian geography and history. All are welcome to attend this informal chat!

Abya Yala: "6 años de marea feminista"

The sixth installment of the Abya Yala Student Organization's "Conversations on a Changing Planet and Latin America" series will take place Tuesday, Nov. 9 (4pm EST) with Prof. Cecilia Palmeiro presenting her talk entitled, "6 años de marea feminista". This event will be presented in Spanish.
