2016 Bodegas Virgen de la Sierra "OGV"

In the mountainous region of Calatayud, roughly 400 kilometers west of Barcelona, the Bodegas Virgen de la Sierra cooperative handpicks 70- to 100-year-old bush vines to produce one of the best Garnacha deals on the planet.
Offering gobs of juicy red fruit along with hints of pepper, fresh flowers, vanilla and grainy earth along with a soft mouthfeel and medium-plus weight, the 2016 OGV (Old Garnacha Vines) is a really nice bottle of wine that far outperforms it's $9.79 price. The finish is refreshing and well balanced, and - much to our delight and surprise - it was drinking even better on day two!
