GOD’S JUDGEMENT ON A COUNTRY
Ezekiel 14:12-23 speaks of God’s judgement upon a country that sins against Him.
“Son of man (NIV), if a country sins against me by being unfaithful, and I stretch out my hand against it….even if these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job , were in it, they could save only themselves by their righteousness.”
V. 16,
“they could not save their own sons or daughters. They alone would be saved, but the land would be desolate.” V. 19, “or if I send a plague…they would save only themselves by their righteousness.”
Has our land (country) sinned against god? Do we kill our own babies? Do we embrace homosexuality? Do we forbid prayer or Bible reading in our schools? Do we allow slave trade through our human trafficking? (We are #1 in the world in that one.) Do our younger generations (age 50 and below) disbelieve the bible or that there is a God who truly cares?
The answer is “YES” to all the above. Our nation as a whole has turned its’ back on Jesus. The Bible is but a fable to them. Our nation has a non-Christian world view. Even the largest denominations do not preach the Bible as the pure and true Word of God.
God said He would harshly judge such a nation and would lay it desolate. Only the righteous would escape the judgement. Noah, Daniel and Job were the role models used.
Verses 22-23 promises there will be only a few, a remnant of righteous ones that will be “brought forth” out of it. Comfort will be found through this remnant, and it will be known that the destruction will have been for “just cause.” God is a just God. Rebellion is punished.
Righteousness and faithfulness are rewarded.
Will you be among the righteous? The remnant of true believers? Cling to Jesus. Cling to His Word. Seek Him diligently, daily. He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. Speak praises to His name. Sing praises. Honor Him.
If you are among those that are unrighteous, your future is dim in a nation that is judged. Now is the day to repent and turn from your wicked ways before it is too late.
