"Val" was not moved or hurried along by anything. She never got ruffled or seemingly upset. She was a hairdresser in my Day Spa where we offered massages, facials, mud and seaweed wraps, hydrotherapy tub baths, Vichy rain showers, fitness, natural manicures and pedicures, makeup and yes, hair design! Everything was synchronized and timed to give our guests the ultimate experience! But because "Val" walked at her own beat (slower than everyone else's), her timing threw off everyone else's schedule!
You see, "Val" was using Valium to maintain this "carefree" state! She may have seemed calm but the rest of us were not! Her state of artificial peace did not instill peace in our lives, or the lives of the clients as true peace would have.
We needed to work as a team and flow as a unit.
Then I had a fiery "Chili pepper" manicurist who was so high strung that the hour pedicure that was to include a wonderful foot and leg massage was done in a half-hour leaving the client feeling rushed and frazzled! This does not work in a Day Spa where people come to relax!
Teaching these ladies to flow as a team and to pace themselves with the purpose of the experience we advertised was challenging for me as the owner and trainer. If they were teachable and willing to adapt, they were able to stay but if not, they moved on to places which fit their timing better.
We are all parts, NOT "Lone Rangers" walking to our own beat, but to HIS beat, synchronized to HIS plan! Knowing that it's for the benefit of ALL! Just like these technicians had to find where they fit best, we need to find the place in the Body we fit as well!
"Miss Chili Pepper" needed to work in a place where people wanted in and out quickly. Likened to an evangelist that goes into an area and preaches then goes on to the next place. They don't have time to lay the foundation and do the follow-up. There are others in the Body that are called to that ministry. "Miss Val" first needed to accept The King of Peace for her stabilizer instead of Valium. Then she needed to be in a place where an individual wants someone to spend all day on them, such as an assisted living place filled with those needing a friend. I liken this to the missionary that goes into a place and builds relationship year after year so the people will receive the gospel.
Ask the Lord where YOU
fit? What and to whom are you called? You may feel different than others do and feel out of step. Maybe you need to be mentored and learn to adapt to this new season of your life. Perhaps the Lord is maturing you and preparing you for a new place where you will fit better.
Be willing to "streeeetch" in this new season. Be teachable and grateful! Choose not to be offended! And spend time with the One who knows you best! He will help you discover who you are and what He has for you NOW!
