Mayor Henderson's Public Address Announcement on Earth Day, April 22, 2020
Today is Earth Day  - Earth Day was founded in 1970 as a day of education about environmental issues, today is the holiday's 50th anniversary. In honor of Earth Day, the City of Gulfport is flying the BLUE Earth Flag at the Gulfport Public Library. Earth Day founder and pioneer JohnMcConnell, an early leader in the international peace movement, designed the BLUE Earth Flag in 1970.

Be mindful of  water consumption  while we are spending more time at home.
 
Customers should pay what they can to avoid building up a large balance that will be harder to pay off later.
 
Utility Customer service  representatives are available Monday through Friday 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. to answer resident’s questions about their water service. City Residents with Utility, Water, and Sewer billing questions are advised to call (727) 893-1016 or email  utilitiesinfo@mygulfport.us .
 
Since many utility customers may be facing unusual financial hardships as a result of COVID-19, the City of Gulfport is suspending disconnections to utility accounts due to non-payment.
 
Credit card/electronic payment processing fees have been temporarily waived to promote remote payment. Customers who would like to pay their bill over the  phone via credit card  are advised to call (727) 893-1017.

Be aware of identity thieves & scammers  trying to defraud you of stimulus money. The Internal Revenue Service will not contact you to request bank information or personal information. Don’t get scammed! It may sound legitimate, but don’t fall for it. Scammers are calling people and claiming they are from the IRS. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR BANK INFORMATION! The Building and Community Development  department is conducting permitting through electronic means of communication. If you have questions in regards to permitting, please call (727) 893-1024 or email permits@mygulfport.us. All payments will be collected via credit card over the phone.

  • Outside inspections will continue by calling the inspection line at (727) 893-1057.
  • If you need to request an interior inspection, please call (727) 893-1024.

The  donation site  at the Rec. Center remains open for collecting and distribution with the Support of the Juvenile Welfare Board South Community Council and the MYFoundation.
 
Items being collected are as follows:
  • Grocery Gift cards
  • Cleaning and household items
  • Uber and Lyft Gift cards
  • Diapers and Formula
  • Children’s Clothes
  • Bread, peanut butter, pasta, spaghetti sauce, pop tarts, canned veggies, fun snacks for kids, fruit cups, mac and cheese.
  • Toiletries such as shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste, and feminine products.
 
Distribution started this week to help the children and families in need at Gulfport Elementary School. Thank you to all the community partners with your generous donations. Your support is appreciated.
 
In addition, the City of Gulfport has four  Little Free Pantry  locations to help families in need. Most are open on nights and weekends, no questions asked. Take What You Need, Give What You Can.
