Delayed: Miles Street  Roadway Pavement Replacement Project  Scheduled

Houston, TX - Houston City Council Member Dave Martin would like to make Northshore area residents aware Miles Street Road Pavement Replacement Project has been delayed to begin the week of Monday, August 5 due to issues regarding the traffic control plan. For the safety of pedestrians, drivers, and nearby residents, Council Member Martin would like to ensure the best fit traffic control plan is implemented before beginning construction.

The project will replace the existing asphalt with concrete to improve safety and mobility on Miles Street from Market Street to Industrial Road. The scope of work includes replacement of the roadway pavement, manhole adjusting, and re-grading the roadside ditches to facilitate drainage. The project is expected to be completed by end of February 2020, weather permitting.

Crews will be on site from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday. The project will be completed in 10 phases, block by block. Crews will begin in the southbound lane, between Ellen Lane and Industrial Road. Once that phase is complete, crews will begin in the northbound lane, between Ellen Lane and Industrial Road. Crews will continue moving northward, alternating southbound lane to northbound lane, until crews reach Market Street. Please see the map below for reference.

Residents and business owners should be aware individual driveways could be inaccessible for approximately 5 days however temporary driveway access will be provided. Once construction begins on the street, crews will give residences and business owners 72 hours notice in advance.

A s a result of the construction activities, please be aware of flagmen and orange traffic cones that will be put in place on site to help with traffic flow through the construction zone as temporary lane closures are expected.  Residents may experience an increase in noise levels due to trucks and equipment in the area.

This project is being funded through the City of Houston's Dedicated Drainage and Street Renewal Fund in the amount of the $2,568,358.83.  For those who were unable to attend the July 9 Public Meeting regarding this project, the presentation ,  Frequently Asked Questions document (in English and Spanish ) and project map are available here Questions or comments related to this project may be sent directly to Houston Public Works by emailing [email protected]
