The mission of Trinity Church is to share Christ's love and grace in a vibrant community whose joyful spirit empowers people to do God's work.

SEEKING A NEW SHEPHERD
TRANSITION

We at Trinity are in a period known as transition – adjusting to life without a priest who has led us for twenty-two years and at some point in the future calling a new rector. While we are happy that Kent and Joanne will be retiring into a life they’ll shape for themselves, we also feel the void in our parish. However, we know that we are a strong church, a unified community with many leaders as well as the blessing of three affiliated priests – The Reverends Bambi Willis, David Casey, and Jere Hinson. We will be seeing them frequently in the pulpit in the next few months as they become our supply priests.

Rev. Sarah Brockenbrough, the Diocesan Transition Minister, met with the Vestry last week to help us see our future over the next several months, perhaps even a year or two. She will be celebrating and giving the sermon on June 30 at Trinity and will cover many of the same points she discussed with Vestry members. Above all, she stressed to us that this is a time of opportunity to define ourselves, discover our strengths and think of areas of growth for us. The Diocese will provide us with many kinds of support, including a handbook which can be found on-line at the Diocesan website which lays out the whole search process. Part of their assistance will be a list of priests specially trained to help parishes through the transition process to serve during this interim period.

As we select a search committee and develop the methods by which we’ll seek input from the congregation about how we see ourselves now and where we want to be headed, you’ll be hearing a lot from us. The work of the search committee will be entirely confidential but we will keep you informed of where we are in the process as together we continue through this transition period.

Please ask the Wardens, Barry Holliday and myself, or other members of the Vestry if you have questions and we will do our best to answer them.
