LASP Wins Appeal for Social Security Benefits
When G* started kindergarten, he quickly fell behind his peers. It became apparent that he had learning and social disabilities.
But when his parents filed for Social Security benefits, they were denied. They began taking more and more time off from work to care for their son, losing income and jeopardizing their housing.
G's parents came to LASP for help.
Their LASP attorney successfully demonstrated that G met the stringent requirements under SSI regulations and won an appeal of the Social Security judgement. G now gets the support he deserves to help him succeed in school, and his family receives a monthly check that helps pay for services. In addition, the family received a lump sum of back benefits which helped them stabilize their housing. The family can now focus their energy on helping G be the best student he can be without the additional worry of losing their home.
