The Lafayette Chamber and the City of Lafayette are co-presenters of the Lafayette Res Run for Education which will be held
Sunday, October 20. The event is co-sponsored by
Oakwood Athletic Club and
Sutter Health.
The Run is the city’s most popular “family affair”, involving kids, parents, grandparents, and hundreds of serious runners from throughout the Bay Area. Participants compete in a 10k or 5k certified runs and a 2 mile run/walk for fun through downtown Lafayette, around the Lafayette Reservoir (10k only) and back. Sprinters, walkers, the “stroller brigade” and many of Lafayette’s top four legged residents share the streets on that beautiful Sunday morning. Don’t miss the live music by the Stanley Middle School Orchestra and the Healthy Lifestyles Fair!

“Lightness of Seeing,” Debuts at Moraga Art Gallery
Runs through August 10. Opening reception on Saturday, June 8, from 5 to 7 pm in the gallery at 522 Center Street in Moraga’s Rheem Shopping Center.
The Moraga Art Gallery is proud to announce the opening of a new show featuring the work of member Lucy Beck, the artist-photographer who creates images that encourage viewers to tread lightly on the ground because, as she says, “There is remarkable beauty there.” A resident of Lafayette, Lucy “paints” floral portraits with light to show the astonishing variety of colors and shapes of small flowers in our gardens, fields and woodlands. The gallery’s show, which also includes work by its 14 member artists, runs through August 10.

Help a Foster Child Get Back to Being a Kid. Become a CASA Volunteer.
Foster children can spend years moving from one foster home to another. They face lasting trauma, homelessness, unemployment and even prison as adults. But you can create a positive change by becoming a CASA volunteer. Court Appointed Special Advocates work one-on-one with foster children to ensure that they receive consistent support, health, education and therapeutic services, and positive social and recreational opportunities.

Orinda's 4th of July Parade has events and activities for every age group, starting with the annual Pancake Breakfast, followed by the flag raising ceremony, the fun run, the parade, live music, food, games, and booths in the park with vendors and activities!
7:30 am – 10:00 am: The Lamorinda Sunrise Rotary Pancake Breakfast in the park/Community Center, 28 Orinda Way
7:55 am: Flag-raising Ceremony at Flagpole in front of Community Center
8:00 am: Fun Run participants meet in front of the Community Center
8:45 am: Parade participants arrive for assembly at BART parking lot on the East Side of Camino Pablo

Jennifer Perlmutter Gallery in Lafayette. First tasting will be on Friday, July 12, and then resume a First Friday of the month schedule after that. The Jennifer Perlmutter Gallery is at 3620 Mt. Diablo Blvd, Lafayette. This is across the street from Diablo Foods, just to the left of Rancho Cantina. We will reserve some of the Cabernet Franc for this tasting. Pricing on the Cabernet Franc will be our suggested retail price of $25. Due to limited availability there will be no Wine Club discount on this item.
Award Winning wines: 2016 Cabernet Franc was just awarded 99 points (!!) and Double Gold at the California State Fair! This rating means that our wine is in the top 4% of entries, and our supplies won’t last long. 2017 Chardonnay got 91 points at the State Fair.

Cantare’s Summer Choir of 125 singers will present African American spirituals and gospel songs, offering heartfelt passion in reflecting life rooted in American slavery. We hear the perspective of an oppressed culture, embracing the promises professed in Judeo-Christian traditions that proclaim freedom, justice, equality and respect. These expressions of faith must now turn toward a spiritual plane where such promises can ultimately be trusted.

Jazz at the Lesher Center Series: Veronica Swift with the Emmet Cohen Trio

For the eighth year in a row, the Diablo Regional Arts Association proudly announces this year’s singular Jazz at the Lesher Center 2019 Concert Series, featuring many of today’s most lauded jazz artists and the brightest rising talents. Recognized around the country as one of the top young jazz singers on the scene. In 2016 she was asked to perform a concert of her own at the Tribeca Performing Arts Center in NYC and she was a guest artist with Michael Feinstein at Jazz at Lincoln Center with the Tedd Firth Big Band. In April of 2017, she began her residency at the infamous Birdland Jazz Club in NYC. In 2018, she began touring with her Trio, as well as the Benny Green Trio, Wynton Marsalis and Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, and Chris Botti. She’ll be releasing her next album in 2019 which will feature the great pianist Benny Green, as well as the Emmet Cohen Trio. Cohen is a recognized prodigy who placed first in the 2014 American Jazz Pianists competition.

Assistance League's Play Day on the Plaza

An end of summer family day on Plaza Park! Assistance League will have tables featuring our nine philanthropic programs, free root beer floats, gift baskets, give-away logo beach balls and face painting. On the plaza we will host an Open Mic opportunity for local music and literary talent. Games such as badminton, corn hole, croquet will be available. Get involved with your community – be a part of Business Volunteer Impact Program 2019!
Contra Costa Crisis Center compiles volunteer projects with nonprofits in Alameda and Contra Costa counties to be completed during the event in September. This year, the event is one month long, and runs from September 9 to October 5. The majority of projects are ½ day in length, and many projects are offered on multiple days. Your team of 6-50 (or more) employees can review the projects, and then sign up for the project via our portal. Project descriptions will provide location, times, parking, tasks, and details needed to select a suitable project for your team. Select one or pick multiple projects for your team throughout the week. There is no fee for your team to participate. Registration begins on July 22 and ends on August 14. Sustainable Sunday by Sustainable Lafayette
