Puerto Rico extends lock down to fight COVID-19
San Juan, Puerto Rico - Over this weekend Governor Wanda Vázquez extended the lock down period starting today, Monday April 13th to Sunday, May 3rd.

The Governor confirmed that Puerto Rico is doing better than expected and she will be going back to the majority of the original lock down restrictions with some flexibility.

Below is a recap of main measures:

  • Lock down hours are from 9:00 PM till 5:00 AM - Monday to Saturday and Sundays all day.

  • During the non-lock down hours - all food related businesses, pharmacies, doctor’s offices, labs and gas stations will be able to open without restrictions.

  • Only gas stations and pharmacies are permitted to open on Sundays. These critical industries are only allowed to sell gas and prescription medicines.

  • Hardware stores will be able to open Fridays and Saturdays during non-lock down hours.

  • Auto Mechanic and tire shops can be accessed on Wednesdays and Thursdays during non-lock-down hours and must serve customers by appointment only.

  • Please note that ocean carriers and transportation companies are exempt from the lock down, we are working very close to normal.

Given the government's close management of the situation combined with the resiliency of a crisis prepared population, we anticipate Puerto Rico to be one of the first to return to business normalcy.

Stay safe & healthy.
