Track & Field 2019 Season

Greetings!

It is hard to believe we are near the end of the season! This we week start our Championship Meets. Please be sure to read carefully below about these meet. All athletes will only go to one of the first two meets. Sub- Gremlins only go to the April 27th meet.

Please note there is no practice tonight for sprints. Thursday Practice. will start at 6:30 again for Sprint ! Distance will still start at 6:00 at Saugus High.

Please try to be at practice on Thursday as we will have a special treat for all athletes. This will be the last practice for the athlete that will go to The Open meet. We will have the Kona Ice truck out and give the athletes one free icy. Parents may also purchase one for siblings if they want for $4.00 each.

Qualified and invited athletes will continue next week.

Ribbons and Pictures are available on Wednesday and Thursday at Saugus High

Results can be found on our website under the "Results" tab on top of the web site. We also will be updating results during the meet to livetrackresults.com. Our meet schedule is also on this page. PLEASE REVIEW the results and report any discrepancies you may see. We have a a review period that we can make corrections if needed.

Championship Meets
Open Final Meet  (April 27th)   The open final meet is for all athletes who did not get a qualifying mark in any of the individual events, OR ranked top 8 in the Western league. It will be held on April 27th @ Valencia HS. This is the final meet of the season for those athletes. If an athlete has a qualifying mark in any event they may not attend this meet.  ALL SUB-GREMLINS ATTEND THIS MEET!!   This is their final competition of the year. there will be medals awarded for the top 6 places at the meets. and special ribbons for all others after the meet. If you child has a  Q   next to their name in any event they can not come to this meet for any event ! 

Western League Championship Meet  (May 4th)  All qualified athletes and a select few athletes in the top 8 of the league will be invited to the Western League Championship meet to be held on May 4th @ Antelope Valley College . The coaches will attend a seeding meeting of the League to finalize the seeding of this championship meet. Non-qualified athletes will fill any open positions in any events by the top 20 list of the league. If you are interested in being advanced to this meet, please let your coach know.  Only the top 8 will be invited unless a qualifying mark is made . Both Western and Eastern Leagues will compete at the same location this year but all awards and heats will be by league only.

Individual Event Championship Meet (I.E.C.) May 11th.  This is the final event of the year at the conference level. The top two (2) finishers in each event from both leagues (East & West) and the next fastest time/mark will be invited to compete in this Conference wide Championship meet to be held this year at Simi Valley High School on May 11. This is a 9 lane track, so in the sprint events we will advance up to 9 athletes. The distance events advance 12 athletes, and the field events 9. All advancements to this meet come from the meet on the 4th from the Western League meet. There are no pass-through athletes, you must attend the meet on May 4th. This is the best of the best Conference Championship meet. If you need more information please be sure to ask your coach.

Team Picnic & Awards - May 19th Will be at Newhall Park on Newhall Ave. We will give you more details about this in the next 2 newsletters.
Team Picnic & Awards
Sunday May 19th We will be celebrating our end of the year team picnic at Newhall Park at 11:00, with food served about 12:00 We will be giving all athletes a trophy and awarding some special trophies and academic medals too. This will be a potluck picnic with Storm providing the paper goods, hamburgers and hot dogs. We will send out a list of what each age group should bring and an invitation soon. Please mark your calendar and plan to attend!

The 25 Score Cards are now available on our Storm Store link and at practice for $20.00 each. They are a discount card to local businesses, See the Passport below or download the app below. Most Families can save up to $300.00 per year using the card at businesses.

We are very thankful to be practicing at Saugus High. We would like to support fundraising for their team this year
Spring is the perfect time to go through your house and fill bags of stuff you no longer need or want.  Then drop all your bags off at the school parking lot on April 28 th That’s it!!!  EASY!!! EASY!!  And now your house is decluttered! Perfect!! And everyone is happy!!!
Goodwill gives them 50.00 per BIN. Their truck will hold 24 bins.  They will allow them to fill up to two trucks in 3 hours.  (more details later). Please do all you can to fill up to 5-10 bag donation.
