June 2020
Greetings!

First thing you'll likely notice here in the newsletter and when arriving at the range is the look of range G. Ryan and Ruben and crew worked to get Range G painted and some serious welding repair work done last few weeks. Not to mention the regular maintenance of the steel targets and frames. Thanks guys !

Also the inlaid medallions show respect for the armed forces of our country. They are set in ground around the picnic table.
Check them out...enjoy your lunch !

The best news of all is PCSC is resuming business as usual !

Chuck has updated the calendar and you will see orientation, board meeting, pistol and rifle matches all back. We understand that at the Parker County Republican Convention last Saturday, Rep Phil King stated to the effect, it's time to return to normal in Parker and Wise Counties. PCSC is more than ready.

New - Easy - Membership and Renewal Methods
The Parker County Sportsman Club Board of Directors have elected to suspend requiring returning Members to provide proof of legal gun ownership for the 2021 renewal period. The policy for New Members to provide proof will stay in effect. This policy suspension came about in an effort to simplify the Renewals process. Returning Members will have the “option”to renew online. The process in the development stage at press time.We have a meeting scheduled with our website host to finalize the details.

The intention is for a Member to receive an email directing them to a link where they will be able to fill out Membership renewal forms, take the rules evaluation quiz, pay Membership Fees with credit/debt card and or electronic check. The renewal documents will go to a designated email address and your key will arrived in the mail. Remember your badge and Member Number will not change as in years past. If your badge gets lost or damage PCSC will provide you with a replacement one upon request. Also, you can see how it is MOST IMPORTANT that members make our sending address a "safe sender" and direct PCSC Newsletters and Renewal / Special letters to their INBOX and not the Junk or Trash bin.
The New Member Process has been updated as well. A prospective new member may currently purchase a membership with a PayPal account, download, save and complete new member documents using a smartphone “either operating system” or computer. All of the new member information is available on the PCSC website. There is a new "Shop" page to select which membership they want. Or, documents can be found for downloading under the documents tab as always. The document set is in PDF format, has fill in the blank capability and the test is multiple choice answer select. The new member can then email the saved PDF to designated email address. They can also print and snail mail to the address provided in the document. Or, they can bring the document set to the next orientation. Remember, payment has already reached PayPal and then our bank account by this time.

Father Time rolls on his own time and we must adapt our methods to the future of how business is done.

Please stay safe in your travels and let’s all do our best to make Parker Country Sportsman Club the best it can be.

Safety is Important

Rules in booklet form are at the range now thanks to Phillip Mason.

Safety: It has been my observation and, also been reported to me that members are handling firearms and crossing the firing line while people are down range. Please review your safety rule book to keep a sharp prospective of the rule and regulations of the range.
It's easy - when yellow flag - take a rest and bring your full attention to the members downrange.

That is your job during that time.

Nothing else is as important as those people downrange.

Speaking of safety, Range B will be closed
Friday, May 29th for gutter installation.

The officers and directors have met virtually last week and they have some good news for us.

Orientation is to begin again on Saturday. June 6th .

Like Keith and Ryan said, if you are a director, we hope to see you at orientation.
We will need help without Scott. He'd be pleased to see us out there.

Scott McGuffie’s Memorial

life celebration is the most important event in the near future. Look for a special announcement for all the above, including of course, Scott’s memorial. We are in a position to start planning his memorial with the opening of orientation and board meeting.

New PCSC owned mirrored iPhones

The delay on the May newsletter trying to get a phone set up and publish the new number...well, Ryan finally got it. Our new phone number that is manned by various leaders of the club over time, is 817 271 0467...that was from memory...let's see if I got it right...YES it is indeed

PCSC Phone # is 817 271 0467

Ryan procured two iPhones that are mirrored so two leaders of the club will monitor for better service to all. There are two email addresses for the phones, membership@parkersportsman.com and renewal@parkersportsman.com.

Thanks Ryan !

Members JSC and AZ Facebook moderators

Friday May 29 Range B for gutters installed

The club remains open, it gives us a break from the monotony of shelter in place with some fresh air and sunshine. I visited last Sunday and had a blast, seeing two members that I've enjoyed company of many times in the past. Was a great surprise to see and visit with them. So good, I broke the 6 ft rule for just a moment for a photo with my old friend John B.I hope you all can forgive me.

Like Scott McGuffie said,
“We love our club, brothers and sisters !
Parting Shots-
The Gun that Scott Built

Fellow members,

Scott McGuffie had been such a good friend...and I had bass and crappie fished for nearly 20 years ...and my 115 horse, 17.5 boat was sitting now...needing a home...I gave it to Scott
Knowing his unselfish nature, he was building a gun for me in return...you can't say no, he says...he kept after me to "just pick out the barrel"...which i had not done...until Kirsten and Ryan made sure the box with Chuck's project gun was given to me after Scott's passing. No holding back on quality...i saw as opened the box...

Well, I have picked out the barrel and did assemble my most prized gun possession now. In that box I find Scott's AeroPrecision parts - down to the small parts kits. This we built into an AeroPrecision M5 in 308 with CMMG Premium barrel 16" carbine length with rifle gas system - Scott's plan to deal with the suppressor over gas concern. And WoW it drops brass 3 feet away at 3 o'clock with regularity. Accurate, no copper fouling and well, from now on, a bit of Scott McGuffie will accompany me on hunting trips - for the rest of my life.

Come on, "Scott", let's go !

The story of the boat continues...

The old equipment on this workhorse of a bass boat worked fine but, Scott upfitted her with more modern trolling motor and two state of art fish finders, front and rear. He and Kirsten got to take it out and fish together !

With times like they are, the estate needs to sell the boat. This 1987 AstroGlass 17.5 ft workhorse is powered by an oil injected 115 Suzuki outboard. Those are dependable. Lower unit has been professionally resealed. Large built in fuel tank. Front and rear fish finders, Powerful 24 volt trolling motor. She is wide and heavy - rides good on big water. Boat is for sale $3200.
