GAMES! GAMES! GAMES! Strategies for Success with Young People
This session will introduce games and theatre activities that can be played with young people in order to build confidence, promote community and collaboration, and/or strengthen literacy skills.

4-Hour Professional Development:

Earn a CUNY Certificate of Completion and CTLE Credit for Professional and Level III Teaching Assistant certificate holders.

Theatre games can provide opportunities for participants to learn how to work together, develop responsiveness and confidence, explore creativity, build community with peers and have fun! Facilitators can use them to energize and engage a group, and to increase commitment and focus, and explore collaboration and community building.

In this session, participants will learn how to use different theatre games and strategies that can support leaders running in-school activities and afterschool programs.

This practical workshop will provide participants with a hands-on experience on facilitating activities, with a particular focus on:

  • Step-by-step directions.
  • Personal facilitation style.
  • How a game might be adapted for different populations, physical environments, and educational goals.

Who should attend?
Middle School and High School educators and after-school facilitators.

Led by Joey SchultzAssociate Program Director for the CAT Youth Theatre. Coffee and tea provided.

What our participants are saying about Professional Development sessions at CAT:

“I was thinking, 'It’s the end of a long school year, do I really want to attend a professional development workshop?'
So glad I did, it was the perfect way to end the year.”
