HOLIDAY SCHEDULE
We're open Friday & Saturday and CLOSED ON SUNDAY, 4/21,
as we honor and observe Passover, Holy Saturday, Lailat al Bara'ah, and Easter Sunday!

The legendary writer and activist Audre Lorde once said, "Without community, there is no liberation..."

As we were planning the concept of Anasa Yoga 5 years ago, we thought a lot about the importance of community and how it is interwoven with our individual health, our collective health, and yoga. We wondered how to create space for a practice where everyone could feel welcome. Especially those of us who have not always felt welcome in the world. Even in the yoga world, where the intention to teach about our connection to the divine, and to each other, does not always fit with the words and actions we encounter.

The rest of Lorde's quote sheds wisdom on the beauty and necessity within diversity, "...but community must not mean a shedding of our differences, nor the pathetic pretense that these differences do not exist." Here at Anasa, we know how important it is to be seen and loved just as you are. We feel it in our bones. And you'll feel it from the moment you arrive. Our community looks like you.

Running a community-centered studio is a privilege that has opened my eyes to the gifts of yoga. From the inspirational, transformational stories that you share with all of us, to the collective healing and liberation toward greater peace, justice, and joy - we're in this together. No one is free until we are all free, because we are all connected.

And thank you Lea Ceasrine from the online magazine, The Bold Italic, for the shout out in their April 17 story, "Boutique Fitness Studios That Are Actually Inclusive". That's us!
