Banner-Worthy

New Banner
Unveiled

From Diane Miller
Riverbend Banner Ministry

In his heavenly vision of the throne room of God, the Apostle John wept because no man was found worthy to open the scroll and break the seven seals.

But one of the twenty-four elders told John to "Weep no more; behold the Lion of the tribe of Judah can open the scroll and its seven seals" (Rev. 5:5).

This newest banner depicts that heavenly scroll which our Savior Jesus will one day open. He is the Worthy Lamb who was slain. By His blood He ransomed a people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation (Rev. 5:9).

-----------

NOTE:  The new Worthy banner was unveiled during the Resurrection Celebration yesterday (Easter).

For Non-Members

Please invite any friends, non-believers, non-members and regular attenders to an intimate Q&A session with Pastor Scott Menez. This will be a great opportunity for those who are not in the faith or who are interested in Riverbend to ask questions to our Teaching Pastor. This will be Sunday, April 28, in Room 186 at 9:10 a.m.

Blueberries

Saturday, April 27

Riverbend's Persevering Saints (senior adults) are sponsoring a visit to Sand Hill Farms near Eustis for some old-fashioned blueberry-picking. All ages welcome.

Mo & Mary McKinney are leading this venture, which involves leaving the church at  8 a.m. for the one-hour drive to the farm. Return to the church will be shortly after lunch (hamburgers & hot dogs are available at the farm).

Interested?  Contact Mo (386-299-4806) as soon as possible so proper transportation can be arranged.  Then be at the church before 8 a.m. to get in on the car-pool.
ElderDiscussion

Three men recommended for eldership at Riverbend  recently spent two hours answering questions by the current elders regarding Bible doctrine, ministry, church history and other theological matters. Before a gathering of Riverbend members, each also gave testimonies about his walk with the Lord, how God brought him to salvation and how he sensed the call toward eldership.

That discussion (pictured above) had been preceded with an extensive vetting process by the current elders: interviews with each candidate and his wife, references and recommendations from people who know them well,  an extensive questionnaire (200+ questions about Bible doctrine, church history and practical application of ministry), etc.

What's Next? ... Affirmation by the Church
This process begins this Sunday, April 28 and will continue through the month of May.  All Riverbenders are asked to pick up at the Welcome Center (near the church office) an
Affirmation form for each candidate. Use this form to give your support ... or to list any character issues that should be considered before ordination is scheduled.  Return the completed forms to the appropriately marked box at the Welcome Center.

Once the affirmation process is complete, the men will be ordained and begin to function along with the other elders, according to the Church By-Laws.

Dear Riverbend:
What a sweet church you are! Thank you for all your prayers, cards, flowers, food, visits and calls. Marie has a new assignment now. Her memorial service was superb. Our out-of-town relatives were amazed at your thoughtfulness and tireless work.
